I am homozygous for MTHFR diagnosed a while ago. My doctor says all I need is a baby aspirin and prescription strength folic acid, which I take everyday, even before I got pregnant. I have heard other ladies with MTHFR had to go on Lovenox. Just curious what anyone else's doc says. I know as long as my homocysteine levels are okay, I won't have any clotting issues. Realistically they can't check them, everyday and they do fluctuate. I am currently experiencing a loss. I hope that this isn't because of the clotting issue. Thanks in advance!

How long did it take for your results to come back? My Dr had a pint of blood drawn on Wed for testing and now its Sat and I still haven't heard anything. I'm now on CD5 and started clomid again today, but I was really hoping to know what was going on before starting TTC again so I don't end up here again.

Should I call the lab?

Jessie, My panel took over a week to come back. You may want to call just to be sure. Sometimes they will get a few test results back very soon, some of the other tests may take longer to complete, sometimes they are run in batches which makes them take longer. They often won't call until the final labs come in. GL :luck:

This is very important, and I wish I would have spoken up and been more aggressive with my Dr. when I had my 3rd mc! Now after mc #4 she is finally interested in doing testing on me. She thinks it could be that I have a clotting disorder or scar tissue on my uterus from my previous D&E/D&C. Having this done sooner could have saved me and my hub's a lot of heartache!

After two m/c and five years of infertility my doctor ordered some bloodwork last week. Turns out I have high thyroid antibodies. This can go undetected because of normal thyroid levels. I'm starting Synthroid tomorrow morning. Hoping this fixes our problem. Get tested for everything ladies!

I know this is an older post but this is great advice. I wish I had insisted on more blood tests after my last miscarriage. If I had I probably would not be going through my current miscarriage. It was verified today that my baby died at 8 weeks and 3 or 4 days gestation. This will be my second miscarriage where the baby died at 8 weeks and my 3rd miscarriage total. They will be doing these tests this time I was already told that they are planning on it.

I will be getting the results back from my blood work on the 20th. They did complete panel I think (14 different tests). Should also get the chromosomal tests back on the baby then as well.

I realize this is an older thread, but here is my current story:

I am an old school tww'er, and I have 12 kids. I have lost 8 babies, 2 in the last year or so. I lost a little boy at 14+5 in 2012, a little girl at 11 w in July 2015, and a little boy at 14 weeks June 12 of this year. I have also have several other losses, which were early save for one that was related to blood loss after surgery.

My Dr said he did a full workup, but I never got any answers. My babies were genetically perfect, per the M21 test, yet one day their little hearts just stopped. After my loss in June, I requested the physician I work for ( who us also my PCP) to run thyroid antibodies. She did and they were really high. I also have psoriatic arthritis. Nobody seemed to want to address my thyroid issue, so I requested a referral to perinatology, which, given my history should have already been done. I am a huge bleeder and have had many blood transfusions, so she ran a huge panel of tests I had never heard of. My results did turn up a genetic clotting disorder called PAI-1 that is a 4g4g deletion, which is also homozygous.

I see her for a follow up on 10/20, but I'm pretty secure that treatment for my 4g4g and thyroid issues will change things for me. I wish I'd done it sooner, would have saved me so much sadness. Anyways, just thought I'd share, its been a long 4.5 years since all this craziness started, and after all that I finally have my answer. Good luck ladies
