2nd D&C tomorrow, so devastated

Postby ready2Bmom » Thu Jul 19, 2012 8:12 am

Hi All-
So I'm going thru an exact repeat of 1 year ago when we had our 1st PG and 1st M/C. Just had 9wk U/S (after IVF) and heartbeat was gone.

I'm 42 on Sunday (happy b'day to me, right?!) and I'm having trouble believing or having hope that this will actually happen for us. My FSH is low, so sounds like the infertility issues are just coming from quality of my eggs. Not quantity.

Anyway - I must've blocked out the D&C from last year, because I can't remember what the recovery is like. Does anyone have advice on how long the physical recovery is? I know the emotional recovery is practically a lifetime.

Just wanted to say I'm so sorry :(

I had a D/C in April. I had pretty minimal pain. Bleeding/spotting for a couple weeks. I hope you yours goes well and you have a quick recovery! My first period after the D/C was extremely heavy.

I am so sorry you are going through this again.

I've had 2 D&C's. recovery for me was very quick. It was a day surgery thing, I stayed in hospital for about 2 hours after it was done, then just rested at home. Physically I felt fine immediately after, just a bit groggy. The next day I was physically completely fine but found the hormone rush very full on. I only bled slightly for a few days after the first D&C. And for 2 weeks after the 2nd (but that D&C was following a stillbirth). I had no cramping at all.

My first period came at the normal time aftre the first and 6 weeks after the 2nd.

Again, I am so very sorry for your loss :(

Rosie -thanks and so sorry for what you've been through. It just doesn't seem fair...
I think I remember from my D&C last year waking up in a lot of cramping-type pain, needing pain meds just that day and then being fine after that day. And I had no bleeding aside from a little spotting the day of the D&C. So we'll see...
We go on an annual August trip to visit DH's family up in New England. And it's just crazy that I thought I'd be announcing my PG, but instead I'll be trying to move on from a M/C. Same exact situation as last year. ugh...

So sorry for your loss. I'm going through m/c as well, and heading home to see family. We had our announcement planned too. Right now I iust don't want to even talk to anyone! (except my ttc ladies) wishing you a quick recovery.

Thanks - and to you too...
yup, I'm the same way - don't want to talk to anyone...
I had my D&C yesterday. I just don't feel comfortable waiting for it to happen on it's own. I speak in front of groups of 50 a few times a week, and I just couldn't imagine if it happened then...
The D&C was painless and I haven't had any cramps or bleeding since.

I'm sorry for your loss. I hope your recovery is going well. I too have had a D&C two July's in a row. It has tainted summer months for me. I had mine on Wednesday and the recovery was very quick initially, but yesterday I started spotting/bleeding. UGH.

I pray we both get our take home baby soon!

Dama -
so sorry for you as well...wow- same time both summers for us.

I've just had some cramps and (barely) a little spotting. I'm just so darn constipated from the anesthesia...even Colace isn't helping.

Did they say that your M/Cs were from anything specific?
I'll see what this one was from when testing comes back. but last summer was a chromosome abnormality.

well, hopefully next summer we're both having healthy babies!
