Weight Gain

Postby melwing » Tue Sep 04, 2012 2:41 pm

I just have a question about weight gain after miscarriage. I was wondering if there is a medical reason why it seems that what little pooch I got from being pregnant the short time seems to not be going away? Or is it just the depression or lack of activity during and since the MC? I wasn't far along and was not showing, but it seems that since the MC my pants are even tighter. My appetite is gone and not like it was before I MC. Does are metabolism get out of whack? Is there swelling? Is it water retention and my hormones? Or is it the stress and depression of MC? So confused.

It could be all of those... or you may want to have your vitamin D level and thyroid checked. Both of those can go out of wack during pregnancy, miscarriage and birth.

Same EXACT thing happened to me! I'm pretty athletic and trim, but I've had 3 MCs (2 @ 10 wk +, 1 @ 13wk) and I just could not get rid of the belly area pooch after the 13 wk one. Tried exercise, general diet , etc. No luck . After 6 months, on advice of a friend (also athlete, post-2nd-kid), I tried going gluten free (or, rather, gluten "reduced" - I'm not real strict about it, i cut out pasta, bread, beer, crackers, etc - but if its got a bit in there like salad dressing or whatever, i don't notice) as of only 2.5 wks ago and POOF - the belly pooch is gone. I'm not "dieting" so to speak, I eat what I want and PLENTY - veggies, meat, rice, even some wine, etc, just no gluten. and I feel GREAT. down 6 lbs, no effort. We will see how this affects TTC - 8 DPO at the moment and counting, and praying. :) GOOD LUCK!! Try for 2 wks, cant hurt?

I just saw this and I am having the same problem. Gained 5 pounds before a 12 week MC and then had 2 back to back CPs. I think my body is hormonally out of wack...either getting pregnant or recovering from pregnancy for the past 4 months. Since the MC, despite working out and watching what I eat, I have gained a few more pounds.

Tomorrow I have an appointment at an Ideal Protein Clinic. I did this program years ago successfully -- low carb, shakes and protein bars and meat and veggies. Also a nurse manages the program so I am hoping to explain my situation.

If I lose weight the next week or two, I may take a month off from TTC to lose the rest.

I am so hopeful, I need to get rid of this weight!!

Hi ladies,

I am having the same issue too! After the 2nd MC, the weight and pooch have piled on.

Pathfinder99 - I am going to do the same thing. before the MC, I was on a reduced gluten diet and that seemed to help a lot. I need to get back on track with that.

KatyinDC - let us know how the program works. I may be interested in this as well.

melwing - fingers crossed and baby dust to you on your TWW!
