Postby redneckgurl26 » Sun Dec 22, 2013 2:13 am

Well I had hoped I'd never be posting here again but it wasn't meant to be.

I started spotting around 8 pm last night. I went to the er and they did blood work, pelvic exam and an ultrasound. My beta was 4200 which was 3600 4 weeks ago. The ultrasound showed a gestational sac of 6 weeks 6 days with nothing seen in the sac (same as u/s 2 weeks ago except then it was 6+2). The doctor said it's probably a blighted ovum.

Here's a little history on me. I have had 3 previous early losses : a blighted ovum mc in Feb of 2007, a missed mc where baby had passed at 8 weeks in July of 2007 and a missed mc where baby passed at 8+4 in July of 2013. I was diagnosed with pcos in Nov of 2012. I had the recurrent lots blood work done after my last mmc in July and the only thing that came back was MTHFR (1 mutation).

How am I supposed to want to try again after 4 early losses (2 with my ex and 2 with DF) around the same gestation with no real explanation? Could this be because of the MTHFR? Could it be my progesterone (never had it checked that I know of)?

So sorry you are posting here again :(.

Do you know what version of MTHFR you have?

And yes, it could be because of the MTHFR. It is a clotting disorder. Are they treating you for it? I have A1298C homozygous MTHFR which is one of the less risky types, but I still take Folgard and a baby aspirin and will have to take them for the rest of my life.

I don't know which version i have I've been meaning to ask though. I was told when i was diagnosed with it that it wouldn't cause a problem but from my research i learned otherwise. I've been suppose to follow up with a hematologist but i want wanting to try again yet because i was getting over a bad kidney infection. It was unexpected because my cycles had been screwed up because after my d&c in July i had left over tissue that i was waiting to pass which happened with my lmp in October. I have been taking low dose aspirin daily for few months now but until recently i didn't realize regular folic acid wasn't the right thing to take. I'll be getting a referral now to see a hematologist after Christmas so all will get figured out. I believe this loss was due to having a CT scan around the time of conception (want charting this cycle so i didn't know) but there is no way to be sure. Next week I'll be ordering opks so I'll be going back to charting my cycles. My bleeding has been on and of since Saturday night with cramps but hasn't been enough to be sure of a complete miscarriage yet so I'm trying to figure out what day to put as the first day of my cycle. Since I've had d&cs in the past I used that day this past July and my cycles were on time from that day since. Any suggestions?

Radkitten - How much folgard do you take? Have you heard anything about L-5-Methyletrahydrofolate (or L-MTHF) as a folate supplement for MTHFR? I was going to order some when I order my opks but not sure if it's what I should take or not.

Folgard doesn't really have a dosage, just the 1 pill. I have heard about the L-MTHF, but I haven't taken it. My doctor thinks the Folgard is enough for me. My doctor said mine shouldn't interfere with pregnancy either, but that I will need heparin or loveknox after delivery to slow my clotting. We'll see though. They plan to send me to a high risk OB once I get pregnant that has experience with clotting disorders just to be safe.

I've been feeling very tired and just odd the last week for having just had a miscarriage. I thought I'd be feeling kind of normal again except for the emotions but I'm still feeling pregnant. Is it even possible that I could be still pregnant?

Hi Red,

On my last MC (7 week), I still felt pregnant up until the first AF. I got even more nauseous and i thought I was pregnant again (but it's not). I have heard similar experience from others. Have your HPT turned negative? Mine took about 2 week to turn negative and continued to have PG symptoms for the next 2 weeks.

Your first AF might be a bit scary too. It was for me so hang in there. In the last MC, I didn't have PG symptoms so as soon as I bled, all the symptoms were gone since it's too early.

Thank you BichonFrise for your reply. This is the first natural mc I've had (4th mc at 8 weeks). With my 3 previous mcs I had very few symptoms and ask symptoms vanished quickly after my d&cs. With this one I miscarried the week of Christmas and my symptoms vanished at first then they returned in the last week. I ran out of hpts just after the mc so the last one I took was over a week ago and it was still positive then but light. I haven't been able to order ICs like I wanted to due to my debit card being deactivated and I haven't gotten a new one yet. Beginning of the week I'm going to go buy some so I can see if they've gone negative. I started wondering because just before the mc I started not being tired anymore but all of a sudden I'm exhausted all the time again like I was before. I know it's not likely especially with me still spotting but I can't help but hope it's true. The bleeding hadn't been all that much at all except for like an hour. If it wasn't for the clots I passed and the cramping I wouldn't have believed I miscarried.

I know what you mean. I am usually a lean person but now after 2 MCs back to back, I am still bloating, like I am still pregnant except I don't have the baby anymore.

My HCG wasn't that high at 7 weeks (possible I already miscarried a while back). It was around 547 when the bleeding started. Since yours were so high, I can imagine that it will be a while to settle. I wasn't nauseous when I was pregnant but after the MC, I threw up a few times and felt very nauseous. I felt more pregnant than when i was pregnant. Only after the first AF, the symptoms eased up a bit,

When AF is due? It could be that you are ovulating and have worse symptoms than usual because of the MC? Hang in there...did you temp? maybe you can check if your temp is still on the high side as well.

I put my cd1 as the first day of actual bleeding which was Christmas Eve so I'm only on cd12 so my last hpt was prolly about a week ago. My cycles average about 38 days and after my mc in July my first AF came right on time using the day of the d&c as cd1. So AF is due around the end of Jan. I haven't been temping like I wanted to because I hadn't been sleeping well or at night until the last few days but I did take it around cd6 and my temp was low like it had been in the past when I did temp. Unfortunately I've never been very well at temping since when I originally started doing it my temps were so wacky it drive me nuts. I normally use opks but not sure how to get them this month but I will figure it out. I'll start temping again and see if my temp is running high. I don't think I've ovulated yet if I will at all because of the normal length of my cycles plus the continued spotting that's starting to drive me nuts. I'm beginning to wonder if there may not be something wrong or not quite right since in still spotting and have been since 4 days before I started actually bleeding.

I just took a Walmart .88 hpt and got a very very faint line so I think my levels are going back to normal. It was only on a 2 hour hold so I'll take another in the morning with FMU to be sure before I start using the opks I bought today. I'd hate to use them and have it be positive because of residual hcg in my system. I bought the 7 pack answer brand ones which I've never used before and am debating if I should take them back and get the strip ones I've used before. Oh well I'll wait and see what the hpt looks like in the morning before I decide.

Thank you all for your help.
