She said to expect cramping and bleeding to start 4-6 hours after the insertion of the medication. Said the cramping could be quite severe and the bleeding could soak a maxi pad in under an hour.
Then she said hopefully all the conception material would pass in 48 hours. After 48 hours I should experience a regular type period bleed which would could anywhere from 1-3 weeks.
I have already been bleeding for 2 weeks so I am looking forward to the end of this bleeding.

Doesn't really help reduce the anxiety I am experiencing.

Thanks Carol! Doing ok over here so far. 9 hours post misoprostol administration and pain is at a 6/10. Cramps come and go. Having lower back pain as well but no bleeding yet. Still waiting for that to occur.

I'm on hour 30 now. I have used a second dose of the misoprostol vaginally and so far the only really horrid cramping and bleeding I experienced was at hour 18. I awoke to horrid cramping followed by some bleeding. It was 3am so I cannot say for sure that I passed any tissue. Felt only like blood.
So again I am waiting patiently for some physical miscarriage to happen but it really isn't progressing very quickly.
Hoping to hear from my RN today to see what she advises the next step be.

So positive news! My RN believes my experience last night was me actively miscarrying. She said from the blood loss and pain I stated occurred that it could have all passed last night while I was on the toilet. Now to see how tonight goes. Hopefully this is all over finally and I can focus on healing.

Oh I am so glad to hear this. Hopefully the worst is over. I know how hard it is emotionally and physically. Although it is the most difficult experience, I am glad to hear that you are not waiting any longer. i know the heartache you are feeling, sending good thoughts for tonight!

Just passed hour 37.
Earlier I passed a large clot (after talking to RN on the phone) so I guess that means the misoprostol is working.
Hoping to get through the night without too much pain (or another rude awakening!!)

Thanks for the good thoughts!

I'm hoping that you are on the back end of it now. I did bleed after my miscarriage for a while. I hope this doesn't happen for you but wanted you to be prepared just in case...I am sure the nurse probably mentioned that. It was pretty light bleeding so it wasn't too difficult, rather just a constant reminder of what my body was going through. Luckily though my period came pretty close to a cycle after my miscarriage so I hope yours returns soon as well. I did go to a counselor to figure out if I was really ready to start trying again, every woman is different so you have to figure out what's best for you.
I have been thinking about you lots, hoping it is going ok. How is today?

Today went well. I spent the day with my mom, sitting on the couch watching TV. I didn't take any medication today to relieve the pain just used hot packs! YAY!
The bleeding is lighter then I expected post-miscarriage. I am still passing clots (small ones) every now and then. I really don't feel like I had a substantial bleed at all with this miscarriage. Just that one night of really intense cramping and sitting on the toilet for 2 hours. But that's what the RN figured was the miscarriage. I know my sac was small (about 1.2cm in size) but I really feel like I should have felt that pass. But I didn't so I am a little concerned that hasn't passed yet. The RN is going to call me early next week to see how the weekend goes. I am also scheduled to get some blood work done on Wednesday to test the hcg levels. Hoping to hear they are finally dropping. But I will keep you posted!

Thanks for the update Kandii! Been wondering how you were today. Sounds like things are going as well as they can for you. When I miscarried at 11 weeks, I didn't necessarily feel when the baby came out, I did feel large gushes of tissue and blood and I am assuming it came out in one of those. I also had large clots (sometimes 1-2 inches in size). That part was very difficult for me, knowing that I just had to discard everything that was coming out. I really hope the worst is over and I'm glad you don't have to take anything for pain. Take the next few days and rest rest rest. Let your body heal and your heart might start to follow. Please keep me posted. Take care, hugs!

Hey Carol!
Today the blood has changed to a very bright red. And the cramping has moved into "sharp" type pains. They really hurt!
I don't think I've had any "gushes" but I have definitely just been standing or sitting and doing something and felt the blood coming out. Is that how you'd describe the "gush"? Cause its not a lot of blood but I can feel it passing.

Sorry to hear you are in pain! Sounds like the worst is over. The gushes that I had were all blood and tissue and would soak through a pad in just a minute or 2 so. After the Dr. did the manual removal of the clots and tissue, the bleeding did lighten and then for about 10-12 days I had bleeding but it was more of just a regular period and got a little lighter every day. Sounds like you may be in that phase? I also had pains, especially when I went to the washroom, like a sharp pain or pulling but that went away too within 2 weeks. Hopefully the bleeding starts to lighten today!
