waiting for m/c to start

Postby Rhondalynn77 » Sat Apr 05, 2014 7:54 pm

Hi, I just got home from the doctor and I found out that my lo stopped growing at 8w2d, the day after my doctors visit and u/s where everything looked great. I am 11w2d and they found no blood flow to the baby, so I am waiting for the m/c to start. I have cytotec to take after the bleeding starts. I went in because I passed quite a bit of blood with a small red clot last night that was gone after I wiped and was uneasy. So now here I am.

I am wondering: What can I expect? ( I already started on norco, since I started cramping) I'm scared and don't really want to go through this.

I also would like to know if anyone else has experienced kind of knowing that a m/c was going to happen. I have felt that something was not quite right for 2 weeks and I kept on expecting to see blood when I wiped. I did not feel that way with ds.

How do you even begin to tell people who knew you were pregnant?

Thanks

Hi Rhonda,

I would start with telling people who will be there for you in this trying time. On my first BFP, I pretty much told everyone and surprisingly many of them offer their support when they learned about the M/C (or I told them about it).

I was not as further along as you were so I am not quite sure what to expect in your situation. On my first MC, Mine came 3 days after the first bleeding. The cramp will definitely get worse at some points and you will feel contraction before you pass everything. Definitely surround yourselves with your loved ones, you will need their support in this trying time.

I am so sorry Rhonda. I hope this will pass soon and you can start healing from here.

Thanks Bichon. The miscarriage didnt actually start yet, only some cramping, but no bleeding so I started the cytotec late last night (3am this morning actually) and the only progression is more cramping, after 3 doses, the third i put under my tongue i actually had some bleeding, but that stopped. I am having pretty bad cramps and i am on pain meds. I think this next dose i am going to insert vaginally. I dont really want to wait weeks for this to happen and i dont want a d&c.

Hi Rhonda

I am so sorry for your loss. I hoped that when I miscarried at 8+4, that I would be the last of our due date club to end up here. I do feel your pain as it has been all too recent for me also.

I don't know what to tell you to expect, as all mc's are different. Mine was very quick. On the Monday evening I had a routine scan at 8+2, the baby only measured 6+4 and had a heartbeart though sped up and slowed down. The sonographer tried to convince me all was well and I probably had my dates wrong - which was not possible by that much. The next day the spotting started at lunchtime, my doctor referred me to the EPU for the next morning. The spotting turned to bleeding by the evening then the cramping got really painful. That night I passed lots of clots and the gestational sac whole. By the time the EPU saw me the next day, they told me the miscarriage was complete. I bled for 12 days afterwards and spotted for a few more. I have now been a few days free of bleeding or spotting.

All I can say is that the emotional pain for me is much worse than the physical pain. Take care, do what feels right for you. Talk to people you really trust. Don't try and rush back to work - I took 3 days off plus a weekend, I was back too soon and was physically and emotionally exhausted and then because only very few people knew they expected me to be back to normal.
TTC since Oct 12

BFP - Feb 2014, Natural MC 18 March, 8 weeks, 4 days.

BFP - June 2014
US - 18.7.14 - baby measuring 8+1. Strong, clear heartbeat.

thank you mountainbaby.

Where i am at right now emotionally is that, with no bleeding and strong pregnancy symptoms (nausea, sore bbs, growing belly) that everything is ok, but for me that was not true. It kind of sucks. I am still waiting for things to happen. 6 doses of cytotec and only spotting, i go in tomorrow to an ob thats not my normal one, but i didnt want to wait till wed. If things dont progress, i am not sure what the doc will do tomorrow, but if i need a d&c my doc is saving an opening on friday for it. I also will see my ob on wednesday.
I will be off work till after it happens and if i have a dnc i think i will take mon and tues of next week off also. I am lucky that i have a supportive boss and knows what is going on.

Rhonda,

I am so sorry you are going through this and i am thinking of you today. I agree with what has been said, reach out to people you trust and you know will listen to you as the emotional part is so hard. It is helpful that your boss is supportive. I am not sure how to tell people and i know that will be difficult, a lot of people know what happened to me and their reaction was hard for me to take. Look after yourself for now, maybe your family could help tell people for you while you go through this. I am sorry i can't give you any advice on the medical side but i know that all the waiting and not knowing what is happening is really hard. Oh Rhonda  you are in my thoughts and prayers :hugs: there are some wonderful ladies on her and i really hope that the support helps you in such a difficult time. I know it really helped me. Please pm anytime if you need help.

Res, I am so sorry you are going through this.
I ended up miscarrying naturally in the preop room... Partially the rest the next morning, it was the 2 doses of cytotec that did it. I did not need the d&c.
