HSG test?

Postby sfb92x » Sat Apr 26, 2014 12:32 pm

I am 22 years old & I had an ectopic pregnancy June 2012 & I had my right Fallopian tube removed, I then tried again & had a miscarriage April 2013. I have been having unprotected sex trying to get pregnant since then & still haven't. I was thinking about asking my GP for a HSG test, will I qualify for this or does this only be given on worse circumstances? Thanks

Hi Sf,

So sorry to hear about ectopic and losses :(

Typically (well where I am anyway) anyone can request to get an HSG done at any time. However, the fact that you got pregnant and miscarried means it isn't very likely that your tube is blocked since the sperm and egg managed to meet. But if it would give you peace of mind, I say go for it!!! Most ladies on here said it isn't bad although some found it painful. I guess I should let those who've experienced it speak to that but just wanted to assure you that if you want it done that it shouldn't be a problem getting the go ahead.
BFP on Friday Feb 3rd 2017 but ended in miscarriage at 7 1/2 weeks :(

Didn't chart this time, last time was TTC for over a year, BFP chart from daughter :D :

Sfb, I had my right tube removed as well and the ob sent me for an hsg shortly afterwards. I think she only did this because I asked her how long we should keep trying before asking for help if no bfp.

It was a HUGE relief for me knowing mymother tube wasn't blocked because I was very worried another bfp could end as an ectopic again. I would say you should ask for it. Drs are different and I have seen others told they don't need it after an EP but there is no harm in asking. It has probably been long enough they would do it.
