Severe Hormone Imbalance?

Postby velvetpaws » Thu Dec 18, 2014 12:10 pm

Near the end of September I had my miscarriage. It seems like it has really screwed with me emotionally. I get really bad mood swings, severe depression, etc. It's to the point where I can barely function normally, and spend a lot of time sleeping and crying. I'm not upset about the miscarriage, this seems like a purely physical reaction.

Can a doctor do anything to treat this? I was informed by my psychiatrist that my psychiatric drugs won't help with hormone issues. Can a doctor do a blood test or something? Is the only treatment birth control? Would getting pregnant again help or make it worse?

It sounds like you're suffering from depression. I'm so sorry. Can you see a psychiatrist or your primary? Maybe a few months on an antidepressant would help you get back on your feet. I've been there and sometimes medication is the only thing that makes a difference.

If I read that wrong, I appologize. It sounds like maybe you already tried the antidepressants.

I normally suffer from depression, anxiety, and borderline personality. At the time of the miscarriage, it felt like my medications that normally keep me balanced had stopped working entirely. It was literally like going crazy. I wasn't remotely in control of myself or my emotions. I'm happy to say that time has passed, but it was the worst three months of my life, for sure.
