Soft cups during miscarriage bleeding?

Postby TeamSmizznoeBaby » Wed Dec 24, 2014 2:21 pm

Is it ok to use soft cups for miscarriage bleeding? I hate pads so much. And I know I don't want to use tampons. Is there still a risk of infection with soft cups?

I`m so sorry for your loss.

The booklet I was given at the hospital when I was miscarrying advised to use only towels and not tampons because there is a risk of infection with tampons during a miscarriage. There was no information about soft cups or any other menstrual cups.

I decided to play safe and use towels even though they make me sore. You could try and get info from the manufacturers website or through google. The signs to look out for infection are a foul-smelling discharge, a rise in temp, and feeling generally unwell, if you get any of these seek medical attention. Because I have a history of retained products with my miscarriages I took my temp every day for reassurance.

I know that I have not been much help but I have every sympathy for you, and you have my support if you need it.

I wouldn't do it. I had a lot of bleeding and clots that shouldn't be just sitting there ready to brew infection. You aren't supposed to use a tampon now or take a bath. Just use an overnight pad with wings until it calms down enough for just a liner.

I didn't know about the baths. Thank you. They make me feel better but I'll skip them.

Yeah my dr said to wait until the heavy bleeding stopped and the same before you have sex again. It had something to do with the cervix being open and susceptible to infection.
