TTC after Ectopic. One tube..

Postby Tonya1122 » Sun Mar 29, 2015 10:31 pm

Hi. First time posting one here so bare with me.. Mommy of 3 beautiful children and a sweet angel baby. I had an ectopic pregnancy 2.17.14 and was completely devastated. Still am. Unfortunately lost my left tube. DH and I waited for awhile and began to try again. It's been 4 months. Every TWW I come up with every symptom possible only to have af meet me at the exact time I don't want to see her. I won't give up though. I don't chart. Not exactly sure how to. I do however use okps & BD like crazy! Anyone have a bfp with only one tube? I would be more than happy to hear positive stories.
Hoping for my BFP soooooon!

That's wonderful! I have spoken with my doctor and since I've only been TTC for 4 cycles he wants to wait a bit before doing tests to check for a blockage of my remaining tube. Hopefully I won't need to do that though!
Thanks for the positive story.

I am totally new to this board but couldn't help but notice our similar stories. I have 3 delightful children and lost another one to an ectopic last January 2014. When they did the surgery they had to also remove my left tube. I was shocked and completely devastated. I had no trouble getting preggo with my first 3 (and even got preggo quickly with #4 too) but here we are, over a year later, and still trying with no luck. I'm approaching 37 (feels pretty old to me) and feel like the window is closing but I don't want to give up hope. Have tried Clomid, 1 failed IUI, and my HSG's and all bloodwork are normal. I'm having a laproscopy done Friday to take a closer look at my good tube and possibly remove some scar tissue and possible endo. I'm hopeful that helps in some way. So scary to think about being more at risk for another ectopic as I don't think I could go through that all again. Best of luck to all who are reading this struggling too :)

Wow! Our stories are very similar. That's crazy. I haven't tried anything yet. Well other than BDing like crazy. If nothing happens within the next 6 cycles for me then we will start doing tests. I don't want to wait that long! I feel like a crazy person sometime. Is it a common thing to have a blocked tube after an ectopic? I really hope that is not my issue. Baby dust to you!!
I believe it will happen when it's time..

Okay I acutally just had to google "BDing" because that's how new to all of this I am! I've never followed my cycle, looked at a calendar, taken temperature, etc....it's always just happened and I just assumed this pregnancy would be the same. This past year I've totally felt like a crazy person too. Can't believe how long it's taking but I know my age is not on my side as well as having just the one tube. You're exactly right, it will happen when it's supposed to happen. Sometimes I need to remind myself I need to be here for the 3 kids I do have and quit worrying so much about #4! Did your OB give you any indication of the health of your right tube when you had your surgery to remove ectopic? That would be good to know. Sometimes if you have a blocked tube (or partially blocked) they can do an HSG test which shoots dye into your tube to see if it's open. At times, this can help with fertility because it can open things up a bit and get things moving. I had one done in June of last year which was 4 cycles after my first period after surgery. It's a very quick procedure and can give you a good indication of that tube. I actually had one done a couple weeks ago and got the green light that it was nice and open but I still feel super frustrated that if it's indeed open and everything else looks good, then what's the problem? That's why I decided to go one step further and have the laproscopy tomorrow to see up close and personal what's really going on with that good tube (the HSG test doesn't show endo or scar tissue). Guess I'm getting impatient. This is the last step I'm willing to take as it's baby #4, I'm getting old, and I'm just feeling tired from the whole thing. I don't want to do IUI or IVF - we just want it to happen as naturally as possible, if possible. Another thing they looked at early on after my ectopic was my progesterone to see if I was ovulating okay on my own. They did this on like day 21-23 and it's a blood test. If you're not ovulating and producing good folicles, they can give you some Clomid to make your eggs stronger. Good luck to you and keep me posted! Nice to know someone else "gets it" :)

Hi ladies sorry to find you here. Ectopic pregnancy is so scary and I am always nervous it will happen again. I recently had a hsg to check my left tube which is fine thankfully. I lost my right tube Jan 2014. Hoping we can keep this thread going!

Yes this is a great place to find support! Tonya1122, I tried to message you back but because it was a private message, I wasn't able to? No idea what I did wrong, sorry! I lost my left tube as well Jan 2014 due to ectopic and we have been TTC ever since. I've had multiple tests done and all have came back normal including 2 hsg's on my right tube. Hubs is normal too. Finally, after getting my period again a few weeks ago, I had a bit of a breakdown. It's just so hard and I want answers that no doctor can seem to give. I think I mentioned before, that even hearing "no, you will never have another baby" would almost be easier than all this false hope every month. Then I could close the door and move on. Even with 3 amazing children and a life that is so busy and chaotic, I just feel like someone is missing. So after my pity party, I asked my doctor to do another laproscopy to get up close and personal and see if maybe this would provide the answer I was looking for. I had the lap done a week ago friday and he found a ton of scar tissue (4 out of 4 rating) and some endo (2 out of 4). The hsg didn't show any of this. He said this was why I haven't been able to get pregnant. My ovary was literally covered in scar tissue and he said that even though I was producing a good # of eggs each month, they couldn't leave the ovary. He removed what he could and we are back to the drawing board. I do have more hope now and am very thankful I did the surgery. That being said, scar tissue can grow back (even from the lap I just had!) so I do feel like we have a window to conceive. One other thing ladies, and I know this sounds crazy, but I recently went to a new chiropractor because of some shoulder pain and we got started on the talk about fertility and I mentioned I had been trying to get pregnant. He said that there are 2 vertabrae that have a great effect on fertility (I think L4 and L5 maybe? The ones in our lower back by reproductive organs) Anyway, he said if these are not in place correctly, they affect all kinds of nerve endings that can have a major effect on fertility. I went back yesterday to read the x-rays he took last week and sure enough, both of those were out of place. I went and googled about it and found quite a few success stories of women who had been trying to get preggo for years and after having a few adjustments and getting their spine corrected. There again, trying to not to get my hopes up with this but just some more food for thought :)

Hi Ladies!
I'm also in the ectopic TTC family. I lost my left tube in January, 3 weeks after methotrexate for an ectopic pregnancy. Guess it doesn't always work.
My tube ruputured, so there was really no saving it. I have the right one, but my OB wants me to go to a specialist and continue my TTC journey there. She suggested the HSG test on the remaining tube, to check for viability. I'm really being a baby about this, because I've read so many stories and even know a gal who had it done, and she agreed that it was really uncomfortable. I can't imagine it's any worse than labor, LOL, but I'm just apprehensive. I did read, that, often times, after the HSG test, women seem to have an easier time getting pregnant. Who knows. I'm sure we read a lot of different things at times.

I'm so sorry for everyone's ectopics. I had one in October which dissolved on its own and then one this January with my tube rupturing ending with removal. I waited through January for af to come but it never came because I apparently got pregnant the one time my husband and I b'd three weeks after the surgery. I'm currently 16 weeks and so far so good. There is hope!!

I'm officially TTC again - My surgery for ruptured ectopic was in January of this year. I would have been due in August.
I will be totally honest with you ladies: I was actually kind of scared to BD again! I wasn't afraid, so much, of getting pregnant, but more of discomfort or things just not feeling "right". I wasn't sure what went on inside, with the surgery, so I didn't know what to expect.
But we're trying again! So anxious and excited, yet apprehensive.
I never did get the HSG on my right tube - I pray everyone has success with TTC and gets their BFPs! I'm starting all over again - but it's ok.

I had an ectopic in December 2012, it ruptured and I lost my left tube, also.

I fell pregnant six months later and delivered a beautiful baby boy in March 2014. He's pulling on my jumper this second :)

We were scared about it all too, but usually one bad tube doesn't indicate TWO bad tubes. And all you need is one. I rarely hear stories of women who had an ectopic and never had a child - so rare these days, especially with science and medicine so far advanced.

Keep going, you 'll get there too.

This is a bit late, but I too lost a baby and my right tube. It took a while but we did get a BFP with one tube. The miracle was that the egg came from my tubeless side and migrated to my good tube.

It happens more often than you think ;)

I was very nervous but all the early scan ruled out another ectopic and I had a beautiful pregnancy.

Keep your chin up! It will happen :)

I haven't been on here for a few months but we too have been TTC for over a year after having an ectopic and losing my left tube. I finally got a BFP and am 7 wks preggo now. The crazy thing is the ultrasound showed I ovulated from my left "non-tube" side. The nurse explained it like a pinball machine and the other tube can sweep the egg up. It's rare but can happen. Never give up hope ladies.
