3 weeks after d&c, positive htp?

Postby carrotk » Tue Oct 04, 2016 10:03 pm

I'm almost exactly 3 weeks out from my D&C (missed miscarriage at 10 weeks). About 4 days ago I started getting some ewcm, but I was still spotting occasionally so I started opks. On the 4th day straight of positive opks I broke down and took an hpt and got this. Is it normal to still have hcg so far out? We've been preventing since I got the ok to BD again, so I'm positive this is still from the m/c. I'm just so frustrated. I really just want to move forward and try again. Is it possible to ovulate/start a new cycle with low hcg?

Anything??

Right now I'm planning on wait a couple of days to test again and if it's still positive at that point I'll call my OB. I'm seeing a lot of stories of women taking multiple weeks to reach >5 hcg. This is all just such a frustrating process. I wish we could just start trying again right away but my OB really scared me and DH saying we'd be at an increased risk of another m/c if we didn't wait at least one cycle. I just want to at least be able to try again!!!

I see what's ur talking about.I really don't know how long does teh hcg last in ur body after a misscariage.
Doctor advise the couples to wait one cycle before they start again Bcs they want to make sure that ur lining is thick enough to sustain a pregnancy.

Thanks for responding Danaa! Yep, I'm totally on board with waiting for the next cycle for the safety of the next pregnancy... I'm just being really impatient about it haha. The more I read, the more I feel like it's not totally abnormal that I still have some slight HCG. I plan on testing again on Monday since that will be 4 weeks from my surgery. Just praying that I get a BFN and can look forward to AF showing up in the next week or 2. Just kind of a bummer the boards have died down so much. I know I'm not alone in this, but it would still be nice to have others to talk to!

I had a D&E at the end of April after we lost our son at 20 weeks, and the hormone stayed in my body a little more than a month afterwards. I am not sure if it was because I was farther along or not, but I didnt see a negative test until June. And I completely understand what you mean about wanting to move foward, We decided to skip a few cycles before ttc again. As much as I was desperate to be pregnant again right awat, the emotional toll it took on me was something else, and I wasn't ready until August. Since then my AF has had a lovely time screwing with me..go figure! She was 7 days late last month and then came 4 days early this month. I usually have a weird cycle or two before we conceive so I am hoping thats all it is and this will be our month. However though, to answer your question about getting pregnant again right afterwards, a friend of mine also lost her baby at 20 weeks and they got pregnant 2 weeks later and now have a happy healthy 2 month old baby, so yes it can happen! Its also my understanding that you are more fertile after pregnancy. Good luck and baby dust. Hope we both get our rainbow babes soon :)

Margaretandco thank you for your reply and for sharing your story, I'm so sorry for your loss. I did have quite high HCG for how far along I was, so I guess it does make sense it's taking longer to clear my system. I'm still planning on waiting until Monday to test again and hoping that all is well at that point. How frustrating that AF has been screwing with you but I also hope that it's a good sign! Definitely looking forward to hearing update from you and seeing your rainbow BFP!
