New, confused and trying not to go crazy, advice appreciated

Postby RowtheBoat » Fri Sep 06, 2013 1:24 am

Hi everyone, i'd just like ur thoughts please on what might be happening...
I'm 29, ttc for 18months, diagnosed with pcos last year (always been v irregular) no problems with husband, slim and otherwise healthy.

I have been told previously i had multiple cysts in both ovaries, a couple of polyps and arcuate uterus so was advised to have ovarian drilling. I had the op 6 weeks ago (right at the end of my period). When i was coming round they told me they had not done the drilling after all but gave me clomid . I'm a bit confused and don't have any follow up for another 2 months.

I was trying to be positive and just try clomid but have not had a period since the op yet though had spotting for 5 days last week.

Has anyone had a similar experience and do u think my body is just still recovering from surgery or why else was i spotting (tested last week and was negative)?

Would really appreciate ur thoughts...

hi! it could just be that your body is readjusting after the surgery. After my surgeries, my period was usually late. clomid has done wonders for lots of ladies (PCOS or not)...hope it does the trick for you! it didn't work for me, but i think metformin really helped my recent IVF cycle.

all i can say is hang in there, and don't be afraid to ask your doc all the questions you think of.

best wishes & baby dust!

Hi, thanks so much for ur reply - that's what i thought it must be really, will just have to wait it out for the next cycle...whenever that decides to be....the uncertainty and waiting is too much sometimes!

My friend, also pcos, swares that metformin was the key for her too (her daughter just turned one) so best of luck for u too!

U don't happen to have any advice on when to take clomid - my doc said days 2-6 but i keep seeing others saying 3-7 or 5-9 is better?

Hi! I've done 5-9 for comix, but I know different docs have different opinions. I'd ask your doc to explain...you're entitled to answers! Don't be afraid to ask. Best of luck to you!

Good luck & Baby dust! I often went in to doctor's appointments w/ a list of questions! Ask away! Thanks, we've had luck so far with our first IVF cycle. Still more hoops to jump through, but I'm finally pregnant! Hang in there...it will happen for you!

Wow, big congratulations on ur pregnancy, must be an amazing feeling! Hope it all goes smoothly for u.

Am making a list now, really just hoping to get some sort of predictability back in my next cycle (i had had 3 'regular' periods for the first time ever just before surgery) so am not enjoying this cycle (51 days and counting) as am sure I'm not pregnant..

Thanks again for the encouragement and best of luck for an enjoyable pregnancy!
