Quick PCOS Question

Postby Hmld7 » Wed Sep 24, 2014 4:42 pm

Hi

I just have a quick PCOS question: if I have super regular 28 day cycles and confirmation of ovulating thru OPKs, would it still be possible to have PCOS?

Thanks!

Alrighty then. I'll be going for blood tests and a work-up within a month. Guess I'll find out. Will post again to update anyone who may be curious.

I suppose it could be possible.
The tricky thing with pcos is it looks different woman to woman. Some women have regular looking cycles and no real symptoms yet still have pcos, while others have wonky cycles and lots of symptoms.
Go discuss your concerns with your Dr then go from there.
Good luck!

Update:

Ok well, went to the RE today. Was told my insulin level of 21 was "bad" and put on metformin. Irritated because my regular endocrinologist and DO were fine with this level. :x

Then, got an ultrasound and a large cyst was found on my ovary. :-( RE said she would be checking it in a few months. Also said it could just be me ovulating, stating "some women ovulate big." WTF?

Before the RE left, I asked if this means I have PCOS. She said no.

HSG and SA next cycle. Feeling overwhelmed. Wanting to give up already.

I've come to realize that what one doctor deems to be an acceptable/normal range another will be concerned with the same result. I try to chalk it up to their specific area of expertise: my gp may not be alarmed but for reproductive purposes my ob/gyn will be.

Just be sure to ask lots of questions so you know what they're doing and why.

Excellent point, thanks!

I have my HSG tomorrow. My RE office forgot to tell me to get bloodwork on cd 2-5 so I have a to wait an entire cycle.

Advice to anyone going to an RE: take notes!
