Do I have Endo?

Postby Mama-H » Thu Nov 07, 2013 1:15 pm

I need your help badly. Whatever info anyone can share is great.

We have been ttc for 5 years. Diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Husbands sperm is amazing, hsg showed clear tubes, hormones great. The only things that were seen as a possible impedance are:

1) I spot for about 10 days before period and period is very little blood and always brown and clotted. Period cycles are regular.

2) the doctor sees a polyp in my endometrium

Dr suspects Endo, but is hesitant to do a laparoscopy In case it's unnecessary.

We have tried 3 rounds of IUi with no success. Do we: move on to IVF and see if it works, or do a lap? I'm worried that my Endometrium is the issue and if so that IVF also won't work.

Don't know what to do. Any experiences similar? Advice?

hi there... sorry to hear of your struggles :( I don't have endo but I hope you don't mind me weighing in.

Personally... I am in the IVF boat within the next 3 months if I do not get preg naturally, I will be 100% in that category. Already started the initial process. That being said, I think you def need to make sure everything is in working order before committing to IVF. IVF is utterly emotional and also 8-15k per fresh cycle, so doing that before knowing if the embryo can implant in a healthy lining could potentially be a huge waste of time, money and sanity. You want everything to be as perfect as possible when it comes to IVF and if you feel in your gut that there is more to the unexplained infertility, I would dig deep and really get the most out of your doctors.

Do you like your doc? Are they doing enough for you? Why have you/your doc waited so long to do the lap?

I was diagnosed without a lap (born with 1/2 a uterus, no right tube) but my RE had all protocol lined up one after another so that we could get the diagnosis taken care of asap. I can't tell you what or what not to do, but think it over and go with your gut :)

I wish you the best of luck with everything and hope you get more answers on your unexplained infertility.

Thanks for the reply. Your post was helpful. You are right, if I thought IUI was draining, then I will likely experience an even more exhausting experience with IVF. My doctor is great. I'm meeting with him on November 20th to figure out a plan. I just want to do as much research before going in and chatting. I want to make the right decision. My dr also felt that IUI would have worked easily for us and was baffled that it didnt work. So here we are discussing further options.

In this difficult journey it is so nice to know that there are others who understand how difficult it is. I feel quite alone amongst all my friends. So thank you.

You are more than welcome! I am glad that what I had to say was helpful. I think really sitting with the doctor, asking a lot of questions and talking over each option will be extremely beneficial. When I first was diagnosed, my head could have literally blown off at any given moment but thankfully, my doctors were incredible and always talked me off the proverbial ledge. There are so many of us that face all different kinds of challenges when it comes to trying to conceive. You are def never, ever alone! We all feel the same ups and downs, happiness and heartaches. Keep your head up and stay positive. I hope that you decide on a good plan and get your little one soon! Keep me posted :) ~K

We are about to do IVF after multiple failed attempts with other ways... and my RE checks for fibroids and polyps before starting IVF because if there are any present, they need to be removed before proceeding with IVF. Good luck to you ladies and I hope that we get our :bfp: soon!

Hi Mama-h! I have endo and only one fallopian tube. I think since insurance covers lap surgery you should try it first. My husband and I have ttc for 6 yrs actively. In 11yrs I have had 5mc 2 ectopics. I have had 2laps one in 2007 when I lost my my right tube due ectopic. The lap was done in the ER where they told me I had endo and adhesion attaching my left tube to pelvic wall and if I did get pregnant again it would be another ectopic even if tube was clear it was mangled. Long story short in my opinion you should go for lap so insurance will cover it and you know what's going on in there. It could be a number of things. My last piece of advice would be don't let a regular OB/GYN do the surgery. It's important they specialize in laps because a regular OB will do what's easy for them. Not what's best for paitent.. I'm 36wk pregnant right now. When dr.s said because of endo, adhesions and one mangled tube I would not conceive. I found an amazing specialist that cleaned me all up! ER and OB almost screwed me... My endo symptoms are very severe pms cramps. Soo bad cant even walk first few days of period. Also very long period and heavy for days. Last but not least symptom sharp pain during intercourse work dh when he goes to deep... Sorry for dragging on:-) .. There is hope! I'm proof. Go for what insurance will pay for first then move on to ivf
