Best days to take: CD2-6 vs. CD 3-7 vs. CD4-8 vs. CD5-9

Postby NWBrandy » Sun Aug 30, 2009 5:52 am

I have been taking clomid for about 8 cycles (with a couple of breaks) and am getting read to try my final cycle.

I read in another forum that Soy Isoflavones has the same effect as clomid. There was a discussion on that forum about how if you took the Soy earlier, i.e. CD2-6, you were more likely to release multiple eggs, but if you took it later, i.e. 5-9, you were more likely to produce a good mature egg.

Has anyone heard of this when using clomid? I really would like to know how it changes things if taken earlier or later in the cycle. I'm considering taking my last on CD 3-7, although doc prescribes 5-9.

i toke my clomid days 2-6 and didnt o or get AF so i dont think 2-6 is good. It was my gynae that prescribed that but when i went to doc on Friday to second second presciption she told me never to take it 2-6. you're chances decrease the earlier you take it cos the follicles arent mature at all. im taking them cd5-9 starting tues!! fx!

I'm not sure, my dr told me to take them 5-9, but since I go to bed so late (around midnight) I went ahead and took them 4-8 but right at bedtime. Today is CD16 and I have yet to o or get a pos OPK so I don't even know if it worked!

I'll be starting my first round of clomid tomorrow (cd3-7). My doctor said to take it either 3-7 or 5-9. I asked her if there was any difference and she said there wasn't. But yeah, we all know that doctors don't know everything either heh.

Hopw it works for all of us :)

I have taken Clomid 3 times. The first 2 times I took it CD3-7 and they were BFN's.

The 3rd time I took it CD4-8 and it was a BFP! (BUT, I miscarried)

This is my 4th month of taking Clomid and I took it on CD 3-7 this time.. but if this month is not successful I will probably take it on CD4-8 next month!

God Bless

Thanks everyone for your replies and input. Now to all of you who commented on what days, was your dose the same each cycle or did you increase it?

Here is what I know about it.
If you take it earlier you usually produce more eggs. If you take it later, you will probably have only one, but better quality egg.
I have read that most of the Dr's prescribe it from CD5 because the research shows better results. It is also better for your lining, it has more time to get thicker. (Thin lining is a common problem for Clomid users.)
Some Dr's prescribe it from CD1 or CD2. Pregnancy rate is lower but it is still good and the m/c rate is a little less.

I took it 3 times when we were TTC#1

1st cycle: 50mg CD4-8 - No O. (only on Clomid)
2nd cycle: 50mg CD4-8 - O on CD17 - :bfn: (Clomid - Metformin combo)
3rd cycle: 50 mg CD4-8 - O on CD18 - :bfp: (Clomid - Metformin combo)

TTC#2:

1st cycle: 50mg CD4-8 - (starting Clomid today ... I will add the results in a couple of weeks.) :)

I would love to hear what days you were taking Clomid, how much and what the results were. :)
