Clomid 50mg, CD2-6 - it's not working :'(

Postby calz » Tue Jul 08, 2014 12:53 am

So this is my first cycle on Clomid 50mg, CD2-6. I'm also on Metformin 1500mg a day, for PCOS.

I am being closely monitored. I had my first scan on CD10, which showed one dominant follicle at 12.3mm, and lining was 5.8.

I was asked to have a repeat scan CD13, which was today, but the follicle hadn't grown at all in the three days! Lining was 7.8.

I'm so bummed. If everything had gone to plan I was supposed to get a HCG trigger shot, but now I have sit this cycle out.

I'm going away to visit my parents on 8th August, and DH won't be with me. I'll be gone for like 6 weeks. So this could have possibly been our last cycle to try before I leave... My GYN said next cycle she's upping my Clomid to 100mg.

I'm feel really upset right now.. I hate waiting out cycles. Can someone please give me some hope

Hi Calz-

I am on my second cycle of Clomid (50 mg). During my first cycle, I didn't O until CD30. This cycle I think I O'd around CD21 (I was traveling out of the country and didn't have blood work done to confirm). I would keep looking out for signs of ovulation if I were you!

I don't think 50mg works for me either- hoping to move onto 100 mg next cycle if I am not pregnant after this cycle. Good luck!!

Hello Calz. I'm sorry you are finding it disheartening. You aren't the only one. In total this is my third cycle of clomid (50mg 2-6) but I didn't ovulate till the second and I conceived twins (WOO) but then sadly that ended in MMC at 12 weeks so 4 months later here I am again.
Just coming up to CD29 (My normal is about 30-34) and took a test this morning which was negative. Not feeling much this month and I don't think I ovulated much like the last previous first cycle.

Don't give up yet. Sometimes it takes your body a test run. Fingers crossed we all have our BFP soon =) <3

Hi MrsKQ-
I am sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you get your BFP soon!
How long have your Clomid cycles been? My first cycle was 45 days, I am on my second cycle, currently CD35. I was hoping Clomid would shorten my cycles, but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Its difficult to pinpoint. They range from 30-47 but with clomid I had 30 day cycles.. But I don't know if that was because of clomid or just me. My consultant said the clomid would give me 28 cycles and then the EPU nurse told me that was a load of crap and you'll remain the same. I dunno who to believe.

I am on CD29 today so I'll no doubt receive my AF in the next couple of days.

I thought Clomid shortened cycles! I read you ovulate between 5-10 days after your last pill.

Although that just made me realise, I'll be 10 days from my last pill in two days time, and my body is nowhere near gearing up for ovulation yet, so I highly doubt I'll ovulate in 2 days. I just hope I'm not completely resistant to it, and that 100mg works for next cycle!

MrsKQ I hope you are just getting a late BFP :noaf:

To be honest, I have used clomid three times now and I believe I have only Ovulated the once and thats when I conceived in DEC. I obviously don't mean to be a downer. This month will certainly be visited by AF as I just didn't get any feeling of ovulation. Plus I had no CM whatsoever. Tried using Preseed a couple of times but then my husband 'lost it' and we couldn't DTD those nights. Though you can't turn around and say "If we don't get pregnant its because you couldn't BD." Because that would just be insulting and pile more pressure on him.

Whats annoying is I don't think men understand how horrible clomid can make you feel? I have constant hot flushes, like I feel as if I'm on fire! I don't sleep well because of it yet we still have to perform you know? Erugh, can't stop ranting today...

My only advice is to BD every other day from now until like a week before your AF is due.. What more can we do ? xxx

Shells I actually was about to post in your pregnancy test topic, but I'll ask here now that you are here! Did you ever try Clomid before your Oct'13 cycle, in all the 13 years you were trying? I'm curious to know if you tried any fertility treatment beforehand. Meanwhile, I am ecstatic over your BFP!! Especially the twins part, couldn't get any better could it :) I have been stalking you for a while and will continue to do so ;) Hope your pregnancy is going good and you are feeling well. Thanks for your encouragement! It means a lot!

MrsKQ - you're basically saying you will get an anovulatory AF? Does Clomid give you AF regardless of whether you ovulate? I've only had one anovulatory cycle since I've been charting (I'm on my 11th cycle), but the rest I've not had AF until I've ovulated and gone through my LP as usual prior to AF appearing. Also, I'm sorry about problems with your DH! It can be so stressful for them too. I have had struggles with a condition called 'Vaginismus', and I still struggle somewhat. It took us 3 years into our marriage to achieve full IC, before which I was having to do some intense physical therapy with my GYN. When I was done with my physical therapy, DH was just unable to perform. There had been so much mental anxiety surrounding the issue, and it had been so hard on him, it was hard for him to suddenly be ready for it on demand, especially when it was such a clinical approach to BD'ing because of my issues. We got him some help, in the form of 'Cialis' (a type of Viagra) and we only used it on days I was fertile, eventually he relaxed as we got more comfortable with the situation and was able to perform without the need for Cialis. If the problem goes on for a while, especially during your fertile days, then you might want to look into that. That depends on DH though I guess... I understand some men find it difficult to seek help. It's a stressful time TTC, and you guys have been through a terrible loss, so I can imagine there's extra anxiety involved. I wish you all the best!

As for the hot flushes.. I hate them! I have been getting them throughout this cycle. I thought the symptoms for Clomid only lasted on the days you took the pills, but now I have read the hot flushes in particular last until you ovulate! I cannot imagine what symptoms will be like on 100mg.

It's a long and complicated story from the beginning. The gist of it is my ex and I both had issues. I was poor or no ovulation and he had azoospermia our only option was icsi ivf. So all testing stopped and we went on the waiting list and back then you had to be 30. I was only 23 at the time. He then became a complete @ss and we eventually separated when I was 29. Met dh 6 months later and after 5 years of ttc and testing here we are.

Good luck with your journey x

Shells that makes sense now! I was wondering why it took almost 13 years for you start Clomid. Anyways, thanks for your help. Wishing you the best :)

Also... Can someone please explain something else to me.

My CD10 scan showed a 12.3mm follicle. On CD13 it was still 12.3mm, so the growth was obviously stalled. Does this mean this egg will not grow at all this cycle? Could it suddenly start growing 2mm a day if it wanted to or what?

Secondly (TMI), I had a severe bout of diarrhea between my 4th and 5th Clomid tablets. Could that have maybe ruined absorption of either Clomid or Metformin?

I'm really stressing over this Clomid not working business. I just want to cry. I'm not a crier unless I'm overly hormonal, so I think it's partly the Clomid making me cry, but why the hell can't it just grow my eggs if it's making me cry and giving me hot flashes? Whyyyyyy

Is there any natural remedy for me to try and kick start ovulation?

I feel so desperate...
