Just Starting Cycle Buddies?!

Postby daystardreams » Mon May 04, 2015 6:30 pm

Today is CD 1 for me. Usually I'm pretty bummed (aka devastated) about this time of the month but this month I am trying to think of it as a beginning. Today, our natural TTC journey ends and the next step, Femara, begins. I'm dangerously optimistic and I think I have already put the idea of conceiving naturally behind me. I'm so ready to move on and get a little more proactive about getting in a family way.

I was hoping some others that are just starting this journey would be interested in hanging out and talking about it. (doesn't have to be first cycle though and can be either Clomid or Femara)

So a short intro on me:

I'm 24, DH is 28. We've been together two years and have been TTC for 16 months! We got pregnant our first cycle trying but lost it as a blighted ovum. We tried seven more cycles and got pregnant again in December though it turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. This will be our fifth cycle trying since our second loss (13th cycle altogether) I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and I will begin Femara in two days!

So tell me about you!

Hi Daystardreams,

It is nice to find someone similar in age ( I am 24 ) and going through the same sort of thing! Today is cycle day 44 for me - my longest cycle ever. I was convinced I was pregnant a few faint pregnancy tests ( maybe its just my eyes haha) but the doctor did a blood hcg and unfortunately it wasnt my month :( . Ever since going off the pill over a year ago they have varied from 25-40 days. We are tried using ovulation kits and everything but nothing seems to be working. I finally have found a doctor who listens! I find being young everyone just says " it will eventually even out , your fine!" I finally found an amazing doctor - the doctor thinks that I dont actually ovulate. Tomorrow she is going to start me on a 10 day course of progesterone, and start clomid once I get my forced cycle.

I am so sorry to hear about your struggles - You have been through a lot. Its hard for others to truly know what you are going through. All my friends go off the pill and are pregnant in the first month or "accidentaly" get pregnant. Can't seem to find anyone who is going through the same thing! Yay cycle buddies - if there is any easier way to communicate than this - email or such let me know what works for you :)

Hey Girls,

I am on my third round of clomid. I just started it yesterday at CD3. I will take it until CD7. Little info on me. I'm 29 and DH is 33. We have been trying for 16 long months. Started seeing a new obgyn and we started clomid and decided to take it for 3 months. If it doesn't work than I will start in on more testing.

Hi! I totally understand about the 'young' thing. All my friends have easily conceived or accident babies. So many people tell me I'm so lucky to not have kids yet and to enjoy being young. I hate that. It's so alienating. I hope your new cycle starts soon (last cycle I was on CD 40 and going to have the cycle forced when luckily my period came!) I'm glad you've found a doctor you like. Has she mentioned PCOS? I know it is a common cause of irregular Anovulatory cycles.

Hi! I started Femara on Cycle Day 3 (yesterday for me too) Looks like we're cycle twins! I hope this is your month but do you know what testing is up next? My doctor mentioned getting a semen analysis for H and checking to make sure my tubes aren't blocked if we don't get a response from Femara.

Hey Daystardreams, I am going for a progesterone draw on cd22 to make sure I ovulated. If I don't get pregnant this cycle than we will do an SA on my DH, than some blood work to make sure everything is functioning properly than I'm sure we will see if my tubes are blocked. I'm not looking forward to any of it but if that's what we have to do than so be it! Thanks for the positivity, I'm kind of in a rut right now. How long are your cycles?

That seems like the same protocol as my doctor. I really hope none of it is necessary for either of us! I was in a rut recently too, I'm excited about the Femara right now though. It's good to be trying something different! My cycles are kind of whacky but pretty good considering I have PCOS. My cycles are anywhere from 22 days to the longest (last cycle) which was 40 days. Do you have a lot of side effects on Clomid? I've only taken two doses of Femara so far but no side effects yet!

Hey ladies !!! Yay cycle buddies. I started 1/10 days of Prometrium 100mg today. Has any one had experience with that? When should I expect my period ? I want to start my clomid ASAP !!!!

I had an ultrasound of ovaries to check follicle count and all was good ! Anatomy of ovaries and uterus looks normal too! Not sure why I'm so irregular.

My husband is supposed to be getting Sperm analysis but might interfere with ovulation and might have to reschedule. I have to re do my FSH levels on day 3 of this cycle if it ever comes!!! Wasn't accurate timing last time I had it done

Hey, babymamaRN! I hope the prometrium works quickly for you but I don't have any experience. My husband is putting the sperm analysis off, he really doesn't want to do it. The doctor said we could wait another cycle or two since I have gotten pregnant twice in the last year. You'll have to let me know how it goes so maybe I can ease the anxiety from my husband. I'm not sure if he is just worried about going in to do it or if he's anxious about what the results might say. Fingers crossed your cycle gets to start soon!

I will let you know how t goes for him! I hope my cycle comes soon as well. So have you done clomid before ? My doctor does not think it is PCOS. We are unsure of what is going on right now :( so trying the clomid as its been over a year ttc and periods irregular. Hoping clomid will do the trick.

No, this is my first cycle with Femara. My doctor said that Femara seems to have a better success rate with women like me that have PCOS so that's why I'm taking Femara instead of Clomid. I'm really hoping Femara will do the trick for us! However, she said she might switch me to Clomid if the Femara doesn't work well for us!

Is your doctor going to do an ultrasound to monitor whether you ovulate after you start taking Clomid? My doctor said that most doctors don't but that she just wants to check my response to the medication for at least the first cycle.

tinleykayewash, thank you and good luck to you also.

Jamiesg, I'll start OPKs tomorrow too! I'm curious to see if Femara makes ovulate sooner (I usually ovulate on CD 20 if I ovulate at all) Let me know when you get a positive!
