first month of clomid and more confused than ever

Postby tryingfor#3 » Tue Aug 11, 2015 7:17 am

We've been trying since May 2014. I was diagnosed with possible PCOS in February and started taking 1000mg of Metformin then. Last month my doctor prescribed clomid. I took it on cycle days 3-7 100mg now I'm more confused than ever. I had all possible signs of ovulation, back pain, ovary pain (on both sides more so on the left), EWCM, etc. I used clear blue easy digital (i also used my plain strips the easy at home ones) that gives you 4 days 2 high and 2 peak well I had 4 high days on cd10-13 on cd13 I had a high on the digital and on the regular strips I had a test line that was slightly lighter than the control line so negative. In the afternoon I tested again with my plain strips and got a positive 2 lines the same color (meaning ovulation in 12-48hours). The next morning cd14 I got a peak on the digital (solid smiley). On cd14 my bbt was 97.49 and the previous days it had been cd13 97.09, cd12 97.07, cd11 97.03, cd10 96.98. Now on cd15 my bbt was 97.43. Is this enough of a change to indicate ovulation? I feel like I've already ovulated the ovary pain has subsided and my breast feel slightly tender. In the past my bbt had a much higher change for ovulation (my dr and I believe I was still ovulating despite PCOS bc I always got a positive on opk, had temp shift, and period started 14 days after) could this change be due to taking the clomid this month or could it be because I changed my temp taking time? I admit in the past I didn't always take my temp at the same time but generally within an hour of my normal time. This month I've been taking at 630am every day since I want to make everything as accurate as possible since taking the clomid we wanted to give it our best shot for timing BDing. Since my period ended we've had sex every day or every other. My doctor said every other at least. I should mention she gave me the Clomid because she thinks I was possibly releasing eggs too early and they weren't fully mature yet. She said the clomid would help make sure there were some good healthy mature egg(s).

Anyone? I know I must have ovulated because I took one of my plain opk's today and it was negative not even a hint of a test line only a control.

Hey, sorry you haven't gotten any responses. Here are my 2 cents - I know a lot of people SWEAR by the temping...but I think it is realllly tricky to get it right and for it to be reliable. Any slight change could affect it for sure! A friend's OB told her to not even bother with temping bc it's so unreliable...so anywhoo...It's hard to say if your #s are indicative or not.

If your body was giving you signs, then you probably did ovulate! You can always have a day 21 progesterone test done to confirm.

Secondly, did you have any monitoring ultrasounds with the clomid cycle? When I did it, my dr. had me come in on cycle day 13 (I think) to see how the follicles were maturing. That would give some indication of whether the clomid was working or not.

Thirdly - are you seeing a fertility specialist or just an obgyn? I found that my gyno was NOT very proactive at all and even tho he was doing the ultrasounds, he probably could've done more of them and/or prescribed me a trigger shot.

Since you've been trying for over a year, it might not hurt to see a fertility specialist if you are open to it.

Lastly, you may get more input if you post on the General pages rather than these infertility pages - I don't think as many people check these - so if you want more input you may want to repost there!

Good luck to you!
