Nervous about taking Clomid

Postby AndiA108 » Sun Dec 06, 2015 8:01 am

Hi ladies, I am due to start clomid this upcoming cycle. I just realized my CD 3 will most likely be around Christmas. Which we will be traveling to my in-laws and staying with them. I'm hesitant to start while with them. Mostly because I'm worried about the side effects. My doc said they are very mild. But I would love to hear from other ladies who have been through it already. How did you feel first round. Starting off at 100mg. If you were in my position would you just wait until the next cycle when you're in the comfort of your own home?

Thanks!

I wouldn't wait, but that's just me and I take a lower dose than you right now. I've had 2 rounds of 50mg. I take them at night, so I sleep off most side effects. They may make you a little cranky, but it wasn't that bad at least for me. The moodiness was the only thing I really noticed right away. Some cramping probablly will happen, but you should be back home by then. My cramping started the week after taking them. It's really not bad, but everyone responds differently.

My 100mg round gave me horrible, horrible mood swings and I would hate to have been around other people during that lol. BUT with that said, the side effects are different for everyone. I know a ton of ladies that have taken higher doses than me and don't get any side effects at all.

It should be fine, just keep in mind that if you're a bit cranky it's more than likely just the clomid. Definitely take them at night though so you'll sleep through most of your side effects (if you get any that is).

Good luck & baby dust!

I only got a couple of side effects on 50mg, a headache on night 1 and some hot flashes on night 5. That was really it. Good luck!

Thanks ladies! So I'm guessing the stronger side effects don't kick in until 100mg?

They say the side effects get worse as you increase the dose, which makes sense. My 100mg side effects were terrible, which made me really not look forward to this round (150mg) haha. So far so good although it is only day 3 and my side effects don't usually kick in until around day 5-6.

While I was taking clomid I had zero side effects. Was able to workout like normal, normal mood on a period lol. It wasn't until about CD10 that I started to get mild headaches, (not bad enough to take anything) and ovulation cramps. Now I hadn't ovulated in 16 months, possibly longer but we've only been trying for 17 months, so the cramping to me was like having a severe upset stomach. I didn't like it at all, but still worked and interacted like normal. Around cd13-16 I got almost lethargic, and remained tired until this past Friday. I'm on cd24, 11dpo today...and just waiting around for AF...because I can tell I'm about to start PMSing. I started in 25mg clomid. I'm taking bromocriptine and progesterone too...and those side effects are far worse imo!! I advise BBTing if you aren't already!
