First cycle on clomid

Postby Mgibbons13 » Sat Dec 12, 2015 10:08 am

So this is my first cycle on Clomid and I have some questions. I took 50mg cd 5-9 I got a positive opk on cd17. I have a lot of cramping and discomfort cd 15-18 which I assumed a as from ovulation and gearing up to o. I'm still having discomfort though and cd 21 now. It's not as bad and not constant. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. I don't know if it's normal to continue with the discomfort after ovulation of if it could be a good sign for a bfp

I'm on CD24, and started cramping again two days ago. It actually hurts to push around my lower abdomen. I had severe cramping, and other girls I know on clomid experience the same thing. I've had severe symptoms, heartburn, dizziness, nausea, boob pain, bloating, cramping, irritability...AF isn't for 5-7 days, but I'm pretty sure she's going to show up early. I'm 11dpo, and I'm praying my luteal phase on clomid lasts 3 more days, because progesterone side effects are horrible, and I really want to get over my luteal phase defect just with the clomid!

If it gives you any hope, the cycle of clomid I got a bfp on was very crampy, and weird sensations from the moment if o onwards and my second cycle that is bfn, pretty much no cramping at all.

I'm in a similar situation to you! I had my first round of clomid and have been having a bit of light cramping almost throughout the whole of this cycle, it was at its worse on the day I got a positive OPK, I'm now CD28 and the mild cramping has turned more into AF type cramps :(, hoping we all get BFP's :)

When are you testing, Luna? I will be starting my clomid in a few days. I'm a little nervous about going up to 100mg this time because of the increased risk, especially the hyperstimulation. Hopefully my body handles everything well and we all get to report great news soon! How are you guys feeling?

Hi everyone, can i join in?

This is my second month with clomid and progesterone. 1st month was a bfn. Took 50mg clomid cd3-7. Didnt have much side effects accept irritability. This time though, had mild abdominal cramps, and irritability. Its cd8 today for me. Progesterone in the later phase in my last cycle did cause me bloating, cramps. Keeping fx this cycle.

Good luck everyone.

I finished my first round of clomid on 19th Dec (50mg x5 days) I'm on CD12. Any advice for OPK testing and what to expect and when?

So I got a positive OPK on CD16 and then felt quite uncomfortable in my lower abdomen that day. During the night I had intensely excruciating pain and started to think it was my appendix! The dull ache remained for about another day or so. Is this a good sign? I'm not going to have a progesterone 21 as I don't even know my cycle length yet but will just wait for AF. Hoping for either AF or BFP in a weeks time, otherwise it will mean more medication, which I'd prefer to avoid. Here's hoping for the best outcome!

Sarah, if it helps, you don't need to know your cycle length to know when to get a prog test done, you just need to know roughly which day you ovulated and have your blood drawn 7 days from that day :) Your progesterone peaks at 7dpo, and in a textbook 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14, a lady would have her prog test done on CD21. However if you ovulate later (or even earlier as some ladies do), having a prog test done on CD21 would be inaccurate as it hasn't been 7 days since ovulation.

I suspect that I O'd on CD20 so I am having my progesterone test done on CD29 which would make me 8-9dpo (7dpo falls on a saturday and no collection clinics are open on weekends here), and if I ovulated my levels should still be high enough to confirm. The main reason i'm having mine done is to confirm ovulation (or lack there of) because i'm not sure if my OPK was correct so not sure if I actually ovulated lol.

Thanks so much, that makes sense! So if it falls on the weekend, I can still get test that Monday? Next cycle I will definitely follow through with the test. Holding thumbs for us all.
