Clomid Questions

Postby melsnh1985 » Thu Jan 21, 2016 11:51 am

Hi, everyone! I am on my third round of Clomid. The first one I had did 50mg and had too many follicles to trigger. The second round, I did 25mg and triggered on CD15. Both were BFN.

My questions is, has anyone ever been told to count spotting as CD1 on a Clomid cycle? My Dr's office told me to do that, but I'm wondering if that is accurate. I was temping my previous cycles and I always O'd on CD13 (based off of full flow), which would mean CD16 if I started counting on the first day of spotting. It seems to me that the rest of your body might not be ready for conception if you triggered too early? I am probably just over thinking this, but it concerns me because when I went for my HSG, the doctor had trouble getting the catheter through my cervix and that was on CD10 after full flow. What if my cervix isn't opened enough or ready?

Hi Melsnh1985 - I am also on my 3rd round of Clomid. I see an OBGYN for my Clomid rather than a RE, but she specifically told me NOT to count spotting and to wait until "full flow" to count day 1. I have seen online, however, that people are told to count the spotting if having spotting at the start of their period is considered normal for them. I hope that helps!

Thank you for your reply, TTC! I am thinking I will start counting from full flow my next cycle, if it comes. I just go to my regular OBGYN, too. And she never actually told me what day to start counting on, I had to call her office and ask the receptionist and that is what she told me. Sometimes I feel like maybe they are not the most experienced with fertility problems, but we are waiting for the 1 year mark before going to a specialist because the closest one is 2 hours away.

Are you getting trigger shots? I was supposed to get one today, but it snowed so my Dr's office is closed. DH and I have just decided to do timed intercourse every other day instead of trying to get in to the Dr. next week.

Good luck, I hope it works for you this cycle! No, I don't do the trigger shots. I have always ovulated on my own, but they gave me Clomid to help give me 2-3 'ripe' eggs to increase chances since we haven't gotten pregnant and have been trying since April/May 2014. So far our infertility is unexplained and we've run all the lab work, etc. The Clomid makes my ovulation super uncomfortable, so I know it's working, and we do timed intercourse as well. I am 4 days post ovulation, fingers crossed and prayers said!
