Anyone else starting Clomid in April?

Postby Puddles-O-Cuddles » Sun Mar 27, 2016 10:24 am

Hey ladies!
DH and I started TTC 10 cycles ago, to no avail. I started seeing docs after cycle #1 telling them I didn't think something was "right" and was brushed off by 3 different providers. Last week I finally saw a new doc who took me seriously and has given me the thumbs up for an ultrasound, an HSG dye test and 50mg Clomid day 3-7 all to begin whenever my next cycle rolls around.
I'm super excited, but I haven't even ovulated yet this cycle, so I'm guessing I still have 15-20 days before AF shows up and we can get this show on the road!
This is my first cycle with any kind of "help" (besides the usual pineapple cores, or holding your hips just right after BD) so I don't know what to expect! Would love to share the journey with other ladies who are new to this world, or veterans who can lend an experienced ear.

I just got an hsg on Friday and am re-starting Femara next cycle. But like you, I'm only on CD 8 so I gotta wait until I get my period again to try the femara, unless I somehow unexpectedly get pregnant this time.

Hey TTCBabyBoy, thanks for speaking up!
How was the HSG? Anything I should know or expect?

I'm pretty sure I O'd today (CD16), which was earlier than I thought I would, so I'm excited to start my TWW : )

I have been TTC for over 2 years. We already have a 3.5 year old. Suddenly, a few months ago, we fell pregnant but lost the baby at 8 weeks. Then we fell pregnant again the following month, but resulted in an ectopic pregnancy and I lost a tube. I have an appointment for April 20th to meet with my doctor and hopefully start Clomid. Although i'm very concerned about some things I've read online saying that women over 40 should NOT take Clomid (I'm 41.)

I'm on CD 6 right now, so this month we'll have to try naturally again.

We have been ttc almost 2 years now. I was only able to get a referral to a specialist 4 months ago who ordered all sorts of blood work and semen analysis... Nothing wrong there so he gave me a prescription for clomid and referred me to ANOTHER specialist closer to home to wait for laparoscopy. I can't even get in to meet this new Dr. Until the end of April then Will likely wait another few months for the laparoscopy. So frustrating all this waiting around. I did my first round of clomid 2 cycles ago, 50mg days 3-7. It was absolutely horrible! (Not to scare you) it just affected me really bad. My vision was so bad by day 5 that I was seeing tracers like I was on hallucinogenics! Not to mention the insane irritability and mood swings. Almost bit my partners head off one night for putting his arm around me and not "knowing" I was too hot to cuddle. Lol. We laugh now but it was bad! I am starting another round tomorrow of 100mg days 3-7 so I am really nervous about it but at this point we will try anything! Our son is 5 and we really wanted him to have a sibling by now. I should also mention that I ovulate on my own and am fairly regular with O usually occurring on cd12-14. Anyways, I hope you ladies have luck with the clomid and it goes easy on you! I don't mind letting you know how this cycle goes for me if you like. It's nice to be able to share with people who understand :)

Hey Jess1226,
I'm sorry you had a bad time with Clomid. Were you being monitored? I've read that vision problems are a HUGE red flag with Clomid, and that it's one of those side effects that are a "stop taking it and seek medical attention" kind of reactions!
Fingers crossed for you in baby #2!

No, I haven't been monitored. From what I have read a lot of women have had issues with vision problems. My Dr. Didn't seem too concerned as it went away completely after I finished the pills. If it gets bad again this time around I probably won't do a third round. Actually one of the reasons I tried it this time was because it delays my ovulation and my partner works in camp so I'm trying to line up our schedules.

Hi!
This is my first ever post on here.
Me and my husband have been ttc for 3.5 years. We really were determined it would happen naturally so we left it a long time to get medical help (maybe a bit too long, I'm 36). After the normal round of tests I've been prescribed Clomid and tomorrow I'll start my second round. So today is a sad day as AF came to see me. I was 2 days late with a week of cramps so really excited that the first round might have worked! But never mind. I've been given 6 months worth so we have another 5 shots.
From my first round I didn't have any side effects at all.
It's nice to make contact with some people in a similar situation. This ttc malarkey is really hard.

Well, AF showed up this morning so it look like I will be keeping my appointment for this Wed. to start Clomid. I'm so nervous that it will have the opposite affect and really mess with my CM. I'm drinking water like a mad woman and taking EPO now!

Hi, this is my first post. I have been TTC for 3 years and have just had my first month taking Serophene (Clomid) and I'm now on day 3PO and very nervous. I was wondering what advice other people were given by their doctors? We were told that we should save trying until OD but I thought the common advice was that you should try for 3 days before? We were also advised to try in the morning day 1PO but as we have to leave for work at 06:30 this was pretty impossible so we only managed in the afternoon 1PO and I'm worried this will have been too late. TWW is driving me crazy!

Hi fellow Clomid takers! How's it going for everyone? Im feeling sad today as AF has just showed up following my second round. So it's on with the third and I really hope '3rd time lucky' comes true. My cycle on clomid first round was 29 days, and my second just 24 days, do you think I should be worried? I was nicely regular before! Good luck to all of you xxx

Hi shoo...I don't think thrs anything to get scared.a lot of times our cycle depends how whch day we ovulate.just mention this to ur doc in anycase.also taking clomid is kinda playing with our hormones so we should b expecting some changes in our cycle.
I m new to this thread
Ttc 6 mnths
Last 2 cycles were clomid cycles but no luck
So this cycle got my hsg test done without clomid.the reports were normal and surprisingly I had one dominant follicle too.some docs say wen u stop clomid, sometimes rebound is thr and follicles grow.so we went for a iui last min.dint want to waste this cycle.hoping this wrks this time.
Currently in tww .9dpo
