sweetpea;
Yes. the Dr has finally also prescribed prometrium. He originally wouldn't (he has something against it) but I took him all my clomid charts showing a temp drop off and spotting at 9 DPO and he agreed to test my prog again at 10dpo - so this month will be my first on both clomid and prometrium.

lyn - are you taking the prometrium orally, cream, or vaginally? If you are taking it orally, be prepared for one particular side effect -- it can make you very tired. Check out all the posts in the thread here "anyone taking clomid and then progesterone after O". You may find some helpful info in there.

Sending you extra babydust that the prometrium will really help!!!

My progesterone level for this cycle was 24.1 I don't know if I'll have it checked again considering I've never had a problem with O, but we'll see!

I had my progesterone level checked to day and it was only 10.2, which my lowest level yet. I am so bummed. I did my 4th round of clomid (100) along with IUI, so I was really hopeful this month. They want me to take a progesterone supplement which I don't really understand. I thought if the level was that low, there was no chance I could be pregnant, so why do I even need to bother with the prometrium?

froggie - the prometrium (progesterone) helps to thicken the uterine lining so that implantation can take place and be maintained. It's necessary to have a sufficient level of progesterone in your system to sustain a pg. The level just over 10 indicates that you achieved ovulation, but most docs like to see it somewhere from 15-20 on any medicated cycle.

Hope this helps!!! Good luck!!!

Hi
My progesterone level last cycle was 18. I'm truely confused :? though because my Dr acted like he knew I was PG and I wasn't. I had taken an HPT that morning and told him it was a BFN. I was 13dpo and he told me to come in on tuesday and thursday to get my 48 hour betas done. To me 18 doesn't seem so high compaired to a lot of the #'s I'm seeing on here. Am I missing something? :o

I just got my progesterone level back and it is 34.9. This was my first cycle on Clomid days 5-9.

To answer the previous question, there is absolutely no way you can tell pregnancy from progesterone levels. A good level only indicates that your body is ready to sustain a pregnancy IF it has occured, and also to let you know that you have ovulated.

Progesterone is produced by the corpus luteum (where the egg is released from your ovary), after a while if pregnancy occurs the placenta takes over this role. It is necessary for the developing foetus - so although good progesterone levels are a good sign.....they don't indicate pregnancy.

my D21 this time around was 61.8. Will have to see whether the prometrium has improved the D25 levels...I'll know in a couple of days.

UPDATE: the prometrium seems to be doing its job as I had a level of 29.6 on CD 25, which was 10 DPO this time around.

My day 21 progesterone this cycle was 19.5 after a round of 100mg clomid 5-9. That was 7 DPO (Thursday). By Saturday morning (9DPO) I was spotting.

Should I be considering another progesterone test after the 7 DPO one? If so, when, if I begin spotting so soon thereafter. Do you all recommend progesterone supps in these circumstances?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Mrs. GB- If you're spotting between 7DPO and 14DPO and your temps go down, then I'd say ask for a second test at maybe day 25, or whenever your tems start to go down. If you're spotting but your temps don't go down, maybe its IB? On clomid alone I start to spot and my temps fall at about 9DPO so I had a second test done and it showed that while my prog was great at 7dpo, 2 days later it disappeared.

Lyn,

What did your doctor recommend as a result of the 9DPO temp dip and progesterone level reduction? That sounds like what's going on with me. I temp dipped from 98.8 to 98.3 then 98.1 (still above coverline, though) with spotting on DPO 9, 10 and a bit on 11 (so far). I expect AF in full tomorrow, as this is my usual temp / spotting pattern.
