The world of BBT charting and the infamous TWW

Postby Harmony0915 » Fri Oct 30, 2015 2:01 pm

Hi this is my first time charting. How do you think my chart is looking. Boobs are very heavy and bigger. Nipples hard and sensitive. Extremely tired and emotional. Could these be symptoms of BFP to come based on my chart?

I've attached my chart.

Can someone look at my chart? This is my first cycle charting BBT...I have a regular 28 day cycle, with about 6 day periods. I haven't been able to REALLY evaluate CM this month because DH and I have been BDing every/every other day....(sorry if TMI).

I am on CD18 and have terrible cramps and the sorest nipples. I've also been getting super nauseous after I eat...I have 11 days until my period should come...I'm hoping this is my month but my chart is all over the place (I think?)....I also had a positive OPK last night (CD17) but it was a Dollar Tree one and I've read they can give false positives...it just seems like CD17 is late to O and I thought I had O'd earlier in my cycle like between CD12 and 13 based on my temp dip and then rise....helpppp!!! Can anyone help me interpret this? Going crazy over analyzing!

Those are high pre o temps but your symptoms sound very promising! Keep temping!

Remember guys... Symptoms don't mean anything at all until after implantation. That will typically happen in somewhere in the 6-12dpo range. Early post-O symptoms are just due to the hormonal fluxes that accompany ovulation.

Vanessa--I'd trust your opk. Based on temps alone, I don't think you ovulated around CD12. I"d put your coverline somewhere around 97.8 right now, so CD17 is a possibility. How's your chart looking now (several days later)? Has FF given you crosshairs yet? How long are your cycles normally? Remember, your LP will stay relatively consistent (and the typical LP is 12-15d), so if you O'd a bit later this month, AF will likely come a bit later as well (if O was on CD17, I'd look for AF somewhere in the CD29-CD32 range this month).

This is my chart now! FF says I Od on CD 16 and I'm now 3dpo on CD19...my cycles are usually 28 days but I'm told it may be 30-32 days since I ovulated on CD16???...what do you think?

Well... FF gave you hatched crosshairs, and based on your temp at CD13, I still say that CD17 is a better bet for O (especially since you didn't see a +opk until CD17). And yup... I"d look for AF in the CD30-32 range. Is this your first month temping? Do you know your LP length (the # of days between O and AF)? If not, even with O on CD16 or CD17, a 28d cycle is still possible/normal (would make your LP 11-12d).

What are hatched crosshairs?

Yes this is my first month temping, 2nd month TTC. Had a m/c in early August and was back on the pill for a month then went off and started trying again right away.

Does my chart look good?

The thing to remember about charts is that they are just data that (pardon my French) don't mean a damn thing until the cycle is over and you have an answer one way or the other. The only thing a chart can tell you during your cycle is if/when you ovulated. The most beautiful looking triphasic chart can yield a BFN at the end of the cycle and the most ugly chart can yield a BFP, so it's best not to put your hopes on what you chart looks like. As long as your temps are above coverline post-O, all is good with your chart. Now... once you've charted a few cycles, you'll learn about your cycle (avg length, avg LP length, etc) and probably spot some signs... Some women see a dip in temp prior to O, letting them know that it's coming. A good number of BFP charts will note an "implantation dip" prior to a bfp. But again, remember... just b/c you see this doesn't mean that you'll get a bfp, and just b/c you don't see it doesn't mean that you're out. It's never over until AF shows.

As of now, your chart shows that you ovulated, and your post-O temps so far are rising above coverline, so that's good.

As for hatched cross-hairs...do you see that your cross-hairs are dashed? That means that there's some conflicting data that you've recorded in there that makes FF unsure of your O date. In your case, it's likely b/c the opk registered as positive AFTER the day that FF decided was your O day. I'll be honest... b/c of that temp at CD13, I'd put your coverline at 97.8, making CD17 your O day. FF may change it in a day or two. What settings are you using? Advanced? FAM? You can change the settings and see if FF changes your O day...

You had said as long as it doesn't dip below my cover line and today it did....I honestly thought that I Od at CD 11-12 ish....based on my symptoms and that first temp dip...I might have been off on my temps because of different wake up times or something....I NEVER have more than a 28 day cycle, and they're sometimes shorter (like 26 days)!.....I am sooo tempted to test right now!!!!!!!!

A single (or sometime 2x) "fall back" temp is nothing to be concerned about. A lot of women and cycles have them. Could also be an "implantation dip", although it's a bit early in the cycle for that. And again... remember that temps are just data to be gathered during your cycle. At the end, when you get an answer, then you can start trying to dissect what that data might mean. Even if your cycle is 28d this month, with O on CD16, that would give you an 11-12d LP, which is totally normal. I'd wait until at least 8-9dpo as determined by FF to test.

It'll probably take you a couple of months to see the patterns with your cycle. Don't stress! Unfortunately, it's all a learning experience.

Since you weren't taking opks earlier in the cycle, you don't know for sure when you would have seen the first positive... Pick up a pack of internet cheapie dip sticks so that you can start testing earlier in your cycle. If you anticipate O in the CD12 range, I'd start taking the tests ~CD8. once the dipsticks get close to positive, add in a different brand POAS test for the next week.
