First time temping/charting... Help?

Postby ksi0512 » Mon Nov 16, 2015 8:10 pm

Hey ladies! This is my first cycle of temping and charting. Last month I did use OPK's and monitored CM and think I was pretty accurate on when I O'd.
I started temping yesterday, first full day without AF... CD7.
I have done a lot of research. I think I now understand how to determine a possible pregnancy from a chart. But I'm sill stuck on how you know whether you O or not based on the chart.
I think I will O this month on 11/24-11/25.
Help please? I really want to be able to see it on this chart. :)

Your O date is confirmed by your temperatures rising and staying elevated for three days. You can use this to confirm O. Monitor your other signs to show you are approaching ovulation. Such as cervical mucus and opks.

Ok. I'll keep an eye out for that. Thank you!
Doesn't FF show when they believe O happened, too?

Yes. It will give you predicted days and confirm O with temps

But remember, FF won't confirm that O happened until 3d AFTER the fact. Remember the 6+3 rule: to confirm ovulation, you must have 3 temps that are higher than the previous 6.

Another thing that you need to know about charts is that they are just data, and you won't be able to predict pregnancy from them. Only at the end of the cycle, when you have an answer (AF or BFP) will you be able to look back at the signs and make any conclusions. The only thing a chart can tell you for certain during your cycle is if/when you ovulated (and again, it won't tell you that until after the fact). Now... after a few months of charting, you'll be able to learn about your cycle: avg cycle length, LP length, average (or range of) O day. You may see a dip prior to O, but you may not. And if you see a dip, it may come the day before, or several days before O. You may see a temp dip in the TWW, but you won't know for sure if it was an implantation dip until several days later as it typically takes 2-3d after implantation before an hpt would be able to pick up hcg. Also remember that just b/c a chart is triphasic, that won't mean that you are pregnant. The most beautiful triphasic chart can still yield a BFN, while the ugliest, most inconsistent chart can yield a BFP.

ALL of this to say... don't stress over your chart. It's just data to be recorded on a daily basis. It can give you clues about your cycle, but only once it's over.
