Timing of Temperature

Postby ksi0512 » Tue Nov 24, 2015 5:27 am

Quick question... I don't always wake up at the same time every day due to work.

Is it better to temp at the same time each day or right when you wake up?

I've been doing it right when I wake, but it gives me open circles on FF like its skewed data. Which it probably is, but I don't know which is better?

I have been wondering the same thing! I work evening shifts, so the hours of sleep I get and the time I wake up are different everyday. Makes for a very jagged chart lol

It's crazy! My FF chart keeps making open circles so I know it's a little off anyway. I've been doing it right when I wake up, regardless.

That's what I do to. I've noticed a pattern over the months where if I sleep longer or later it increases .2 degrees per hour, but it's still hard when you are looking at the chart and trying to decipher it

It's best to temp at the same time everyday after you have a good 3hours of uninterrupted sleep in your system if you can. I temp around 6 am every day and set an alarm on the weekend just so I can quickly temp and then go back to bed. If you wake at different times every day but are still temping as soon as you wake up you should be okay. I would just "fake" out FF and change the time so it shows the same every day. I think the most important thing to remember is that it should be the first thing you do when you wake up before even getting up to use the bathroom. And it should be done when you have at lesst 3 hours of sleep in your system. I know it's got to be hard for shift workers, etc. I believe if you log onto the fertility friend website there is a whole blurb about temping when you are a shift work or work night shift, etc. That may give you more information. Hope this helps!
