45 days of EWCM

Postby JulieS13 » Tue Aug 02, 2011 12:02 pm

After having EWCM for 45 days of EWCM, AF decided to show up on CD48. I generally have a 28-30 day cycle. I'm sure this cycle was a bust and I didn't O; however, any idea why the long span of EWCM? Also, AF was light and short and on CD5 EWCM has started up again; I'm currently on CD7 and have an over abundance of EWCM. I should mention that during those 45 days and now, the EWCM is WAAAYYYY more than anything I've ever experienced in the past. Also, my ovaries constantly feel "active" and I have cramps nearly all the time

Any suggestions?

Hi Julie! Haven't seen you on for some time (I also haven't been on here much, just been too discouraged...with 3 miscarriages and 2 chemicals in a little over a year, lost twins in Feb and last month had a chemical just to mess with my poor heart, hard to keep up hope, but we are still trying...guess there is always a chance as long as I am still ovulating).

Regarding your post, first of all I am so sorry to hear about your messed up cycle...I can imagine how frustrating that would be. I obviously can't say what has caused it for you, but one possibility is increased estrogen. As women enter perimenopause it is not uncommon for progesterone levels to start to lower and estrogen to temporarily go up in response (sometimes one will see elevated levels sometimes it is just the ratio that increases). Estrogen is what is normally responsible for increased EWCM before we ovulate, but as cycles start to alter this can sometimes last for more of the cycle. I have a couple of links here where this is discussed...easier than my trying to rattle off information I know little about ;-)

Hopefully this was just a fluke cycle of hormone fluctuation...in our 40's cycles can be odd one month and then normal the next. Wishing you best of luck of still catching a lucky egg!

Julie, I may not need to say this, but just in case, please don't see my comments re perimenopause badly...at our age (can't believe I am 44 now) it is just one of those things one sort of has to accept is happening or is on the near horizon, but that first article I posted does at least gives some hope...maybe all that ovary activity you have been feeling is the hyperstimulation they are talking of and you may have more than one egg gearing up to be released.

Just had to add this comment as I didn't want my last to come across in a discouraging way. I know it is so hard to keep hope and I am all too aware that of feeling like one is down to last chances, but there have been women older than either of us that have been successful. Hope this next cycle is back on track for you. So wishing you luck.
