Yes - it's all very exciting and beginning to really feel 'right.'

Just been reading about other people's experiences and about chromosomal crossover etc and found this written by someone called 'Urchin' on another forum:

"I thought I'd share my take on donor eggs.

The donor provided the DNA - that's just the blueprint. Every cell in my baby's body is being knitted from my own flesh, bone and blood.
What she provided was one single cell - by now my baby has millions, all made from me ... granted, to her blueprint.
If an architect drew up plans for a house, and I took those plans and built that house with my own hands; if I laid the bricks, and installed the windows, and tiled the roof, and plastered the walls - I would feel in my heart that the house was mine, and that I had made it (not the architect) The architect provided the potential for a house, but it wasn't a house, it was blue ink on paper - I made the house, I made it myself.

And that's exactly how I feel about this baby that I'm carrying; the donor provided the potential for a baby, but I made it, it's mine."

How moving is that?

Night all. x

Hi there i am a huge lurker on this site. I am 45 and have an 11 month old via donor egg. I tried one round of ivf but had a cancelled cycle due to low response. We got pregnant the first try with our donor. I feel so lucky to have been able to have the experience of being pregnant. It was such a positive experience for us. Our son is just perfect and i dont even think about how we got pregnant anymore. If youhave any questions please feel free to ask me. Good luck to you and tons of baby dust!!!

Hello Everyone!

Hope you are all well.

Mini update: we have booked our consultation appointment with the IVI clinic in Spain to discuss next steps, most likely with a donor egg in 4 weeks time.

Am feeling powerful and positive. :)

In the meantime, saw a medical herbalist (already did a fertility cleanse: liver and uterus) and am now taking herbs for the different parts of my cycle to assist me naturally as we know for sure that I am ovulating.

Feeling much better about all of this than I have in ages, if ever (well, apart from at the very beginning when I didn't know what we would have to endure on this journey).

Have a good day.

My prayers go out to you Adorabella .. PLEASE keep us updated and really I admire those who can move to this stage.

I have a wonderful DS (via our first IUI) but after 6 failed IUIs and we can not afford IVF (which I know in my heart this would work) we will continue to try with my eggs and his sperm.

I am sure if we were TTC our first child I would have seriously considered egg donors.

Thank you so much.

We can't really afford to do this either but decided it was worth selling our house and down-sizing to release some equity (not that we can get a much smaller house!). Not easy or possible for everyone, which I fully appreciate and of course, no guarantees about anything either.

It's a long journey, which may or may not result in us having a child BUT we feel that we have to do what we can whilst we can.

Still praying and hoping that we can manage this naturally! :)

Fingers crossed for you. x

Adoreabella...you never know. I had given up all hope on my own eggs. Dr. had given me under a 5% chance of having a child without any type of chromosome problems. So we though moving onto donor eggs with my husband's sperm was the best way to have our family. I found a place in San Diego who actually guarentees that you will deliver a baby OR YOUR MONEY BACK! It was a lot of money for us too but very little risk. We were all set ready to go and just waiting for the donor. Well in March I got pregnant Au Natural!!!! I fully expected to miscarrying, like I did in the past. However this little girl was just meant to be. I am hoping your story winds up like mine.

Fittblonde - your story really does give me enormous hope and as we as yet have found absolutely no issues whatsoever (chromosomal or otherwise) for our situation, it seems that it might be possible. I'm just not sure how much longer we can wait because of my age.

Also, it seems that our lives to some extent have been 'on hold' whilst we have tried to conceive (tests, procedures, IVF etc) which has currently taken 5 years.

We just want to start being a family and looking to the future rather than treading water indefinitely. We pray for the right thing to happen.....so hopefully one way or another our path will be guided. Thank you.

That is EXACTLY the way we felt. We only waited 2 years but I could not handle another loss. We just wanted to start a family. It didn't take me long to accept the fact that it was going to be a donor. I just felt, what the hell is so great about my genetics....LOL. Having a baby in our lives to love and nuture was the most important thing for us. Positive thoughts for you every step of the way :)

I agree with you about the genetics but on a karmic level (only to be told recently that 'the baby' we are meant to have will come to us regardless of genetics), which makes sense.

We will see what happens at the clinic and what happens with us (I am looking at two cycles passing before DE cycle, I think), so if it's meant to be a genetic baby then it still has it's chance to happen.

Finally got to the bottom of my hormone tests (and horrifyingly), I discovered that my GP's have no idea whatsoever about when to send us for tests or how to read the results when they get them.

My latest results came back incomplete and the surgery blamed the lab. My husband also had blood tests about 6-8 weeks ago and as we had heard nothing stupidly thought all was well. I checked with the GP whether that was the case and they discovered that the results had been sent to a different surgery!

So, I complained to the CEO of the NHS Trust and he called me back immediately, only to tell me that he was an endocrinologist and had taken the liberty of reading through my notes....and that not only are my results all normal, they are also not showing any signs whatsoever of menopause. Thank goodness - as the first GP told me I was POST menopausal 4 months ago, despite regular cycles and proven ovulation.

The world has gone mad and the sooner I don't have to deal with these incompetents the better! :)

Let's see what the Universe has in store for us!

Adoreabella....Sorry you went through so much stress. That is just horrible about your doctor. I usually take what doctors say with a grain of salt. I do my own research and usually seek out second opinions if there are any questions. I like the more natural approach to improving one's health. However, sometimes you have to use the more extreme methods especially when it comes to infertility issues.

I think sometimes knowing you have a plan B relieves a lot of stress which allows you to conceive naturally. I HATED when people told me to just relax and I would get pregnant. I would just explode at that statement. However, now I see the importance of it.

Fingers crossed for your next two natural cycles

Ha ha - you are lovely. Yes, it is important to 'just relax' and I would if I only knew how.

Doing our utmost to 'just relax' with the clinic appointment being used (as you say, as a Plan B) distraction.

We are always hopeful (which is why we haven't ever given up) but especially hopeful when hearing of experiences like yours. Really. To know that it can happen is all we need.

Enjoy your day. x

Yes, relaxing is impossible. It is great that you have never given up! I think I gave up a lot of expectations when we made the decision to move onto donor eggs. However, in the back of my mind I was hoping that just maybe some miracle would happen. I am still in shock that it did and the baby is healthy.
