Soft Cup Question

Tue Aug 28, 2012 12:20 pm

TMI Alert- :? OK I have a weird question. I have been using the soft cups post BD. I put it in right after BD with a bit of pre seed in it. Question I have, I cant help but wonder if by putting it in after wards am I keeping the sperm from getting to where it needs to go by creating a barrier with the soft cup? I have wondered that after the last couple of BD's and thought I would ask this great insightful group of ladies your thoughts on it? What does everyone think about this???? And just in case you wonder, no the sperm is not placed into the soft cup and then inserted in, I just put the soft cup in after the deed is done. LOL

Thanks all

Ive been using the softcup this month as well. I've been using preseed to BD and then afterwards, lay flat for 15 or so minutes. Then I get up to clean up and insert the softcup before any fluid has had a chance to run out. Im thinking that whatever fluid is there has been "scooped' up by the cup (which holds it next to my cervix) because I dont have any leakage after I insert it. Hope that helps. And baby dust to you!

I have never used it so I can't answer any questions about it...however, I was thinking of using it going forward and I also had a question which might be silly...

Is there any risk of it getting stuck in there? (stop laughing) I was reading the directions and I am like what if I can't reach the rim with my finger and pull it back out? :omg: Is that a possibility? I mean there is no string like with a tampon so I am just asking.

Shanessa not stupid at all, I wondered the same thing before I tried it. For me I find it real easy to put in and take out, I usually do it on the toilet but have also done it laying down. Its not that far up and the rim is pretty wide so its easy to hook your finger around to get it out. The 1st time I used one I put it in and out several times just to make sure it wasnt going anywhere. LOL..... I usually leave it in all night or all day if its a morning BD. I usually take it out after about 8 hrs.

Thanks for the other feedback Krista

Second Chance, I don't think it can hinder, only help. I read of several stories of women getting pregnant after using soft cups. I bought one and started using it a couple of months ago. I find them brilliant for periods too, saves money! Thank you for your other post about the cbfm. I am 6dpo now with sore boobs. I don't know if that is a good or a bad sign!!

Shanessa, I understand your apprehension but they are so easy to use. Plus they are held much lower in the vagina than tampons so easy to reach with a finger. Definitely too much info! But really, they are a doddle to use.

Shanessa, not a stupid question! It wont get stuck because it cups over your cervix. The lip is very easy to feel and you can slip your finger under it and pull it out. I have a tilted uterus that sits opposite of what is normal and I can use them without difficulty. It won't hinder conception but help because ejaculation already pushes the sperm up into your uterus. The cup just keeps them there rather than keeping them out. I used them this last ovulation as well as preseed, opks, EPO, and royal jelly. I am now 3dpo and counting down to test. Anyone else in the 2ww? Good luck and baby dust!!!!

Yes the cup keeps the sperm closer to the cervix so provided the cervix is open the sperm has a second chance to enter the cervix and go hunting for th egg. The sperm will not doesn't "fall out" or get pushed out when you pee! Good job with the preseed too, I read somewhere the preseed in the softcup will provide a optimal environment for the sperm and they will live longer as pressed mimic the EWCM.

We use Zestica lubricant (started trying last month, I like it better not as messy not as watery - used the tube applicator not the spray) prior to BD then after I lie for 20 minutes then add preseed to softcup and while on toilet insert the softcup. I also have a weak bladder so invitably I have to pee after ... the softcup ensures the swimmers are staying where they need to stay... plus I leave it in until I get up the next morning for my shower and no messiness in bed either from leakage!

Definitely will include them in my arsenal. Seems like win, win, win situation especially if we can avoid the wet spot!

So funny, I have been using this for AF for years, but never thought of it for retaining sperm after BD...brilliant idea. Will consider trying that later. LOL!

I must've done something right! BFP today on CBE Digital at 10dpo. This is after a tubal reversal almost 2 months ago! Baby dust to all! Definitely give preseed and the soft cups a try. I think they were the magic bullet!!!
