Full fat dairy and Iron boost egg quality

Postby TTCnumber2at42 » Tue Dec 04, 2012 7:05 am

I just found this on line.... you guys probably know this but

Boost your dairy and iron intake.
Besides eating right and taking prenatal vitamins, try to fit in one serving of full-fat diary a day as part of your plan to bone up on calcium. Research shows that one serving of whole milk or cheese — or yes, even a scoop of full-fat ice cream — can lower your chances of ovulatory infertility (the inability to produce healthy eggs). But be sure to limit that full-fat serving to one a day, otherwise you’ll sabotage your conception quest by packing on too many pounds. Also aim for two servings a day of iron-rich foods like leafy greens, beans, and lean meats since research shows that anemic women can have irregular cycles.

I started having on glass of whole milk each day on the weekdays. On weekends I have ice cream. :). I had read that in a book I have about fertility. Good thing is I have always eaten full fat ice cream, but usually only once or twice a week.

I am going to ask a stupid question, what is full fat milk or icecream (what percentage) is there a brand you prefer?

I'm just starting this process so this is probably a really dumb question, but I thought we were born with all the eggs we will ever have? So how would dairy or anything else help us make healthier eggs? Am I clueless (it happens often, lol)

the eggs don't mature until they are in the follicle during ovulation. you want the eggs to be strong then your current diet counts towards it maturing to a healthy, strong egg capable of surviving the journey and the fertilization process.

TTc- I also have the same question...whole milk doesn't sound very appealing to me as I struggle to drink it in the first place. How do you know you are eating a full fat ice cream or cheese?
