early ovulation

Postby momoftreasures » Sat Apr 06, 2013 12:37 pm

Does ovulating early definitely mean high fsh? I know I conceived my daughter at almost 40 on cd6 but was that a miracle? I didn't know anything about infertility then and now that I have been reading all this stuff on here I'm worried. It looks like I am going to ovulate on cd10 this cycle. I don't know if this is historically normal for me as I always got pregnant after having just one or two post partum periods. I'm driving myself crazy.

Momoftreasures ~ My FSH is on the normal-highish side (it's a 5.2 on CD3, but went to a 10 while on the "Clomid Challenge"). I usually O on CD11. This month, I think I O'd on CD7, although Fertility Friend is messing with me and put my crosshairs on CD9 this morning. I don't think ovulating early necessarily coincides with a high FSH, but I'm definitely not an expert. It may just be how your body is. It's great to hear that you conceived your little girl on CD6. I figured I was automatically out this month because I O'd so early. I have two boys and always thought I'd want another. Just yesterday, I realized how much I'd love to have a little girl.

I've been using OPK's for about 7 months now. I started temping 3 months ago...mostly to be sure I was actually ovulating. I've heard so many women on here say they had +OPK's, but found out later they weren't actually ovulating  . OPK's just tell you if your body is getting ready to O. The only ways I know to tell if you actually do is by temping or ultrasound which I had last month and everything looked good. I do highly recommend at least a couple of months of temping (especially at our age :D ), but it can be pretty stressful and tiring in and of itself. I often dream about having to wake up to temp and when I do wake too early, I stress thinking that it's going to throw everything off. Sooo, if necessary, I may take next month off temping and stick with the OPK's. Where are you in your cycle?

I did clomid last month. I've been using OPK's with no problem for 8 months. On clomid, OPK dIdn't detect my O (did them twice daily because i didnt know what to expect on clomid), but I had unbelievable O pains. My RE says that can happen?? Had to do ultrasound to confirm that I had ovulated. From my experience, I would say definitely listen to your body and don't just trust the OPK's or you may miss it.

From my research ..yes Oing early and earlier is a indication of a rising FSH. I had mine done this cycle cd 3 and was 14. My Re wants to move me to injectable's w/IUI as I am Oing on my own and Clomid this cycle prompted a nice strong O but she wants more then one egg at a time ..more targets mean more chances. So even with a FSH of 14 I am still Oing every cycle :) Good luck!

What is a "normal" level? I actually am going to ovulate tomorrow, which is cd 12 for the second month in a row. When I started getting my periods (my daughter was 14 months), I was ovulating anywhere from cd 8 - 11. So could this be a good sign? Also my LP last month was 16 days. It has always been 14 but I started DHEA then, too. My cycles are making me crazy!

You can't go by a "normal" as there is a difference between ages 39 to 43 BUT my RE says they like to see a 10 or lower HOWEVER being I am 43 my results were exactly what was expected. My last done at 39 was 7.4 and it went up 7 miu in 4 years. So it depends on your age and your individual body as I know ladies 40/43 who are under 10.

ETA: If your Oing you always have a chance :)

Ok, bear with me as I'm clueless. Using opk for the first time and hot a positive today. Should we bd tonight or wait until tomorrow night? Historically, we get pregnant easily with a decent amount of time in between bd's and if we bd on O day.

That depends if you O 24 or 72 hours after a poss OPK. I personally would bd the day of poss and again the next night BUT I can O in 24 hours to 72 hours so I don't take a chance. My Dh has great sperm so bding 2 days in a row is not a issue.
