TTC in our fabulous forties!

Hello all! I am a 40 year old with three kiddos ages 19, 15 and 12. Earlier this year, my BF and I discovered that we were going to have a baby. I found out when I was 7 weeks along. This was such a pleasant surprise. Unfortunately, at our 12 week appointment, we found out that the baby passed away when I was 8 weeks along. I had a D&C the next day and was cleared to try again after my first normal cycle. Well that went by and this leads us to now. We have decided to try again. I have stocked up on OPKs and HPTs. I took a OPK on 10/5/2015 and it was positive. We DTD the following night (yesterday). Now while surfing the web, I decided to use some ovulation calculars on different sites (including this one) and it states that I will not ovulate until December 01, 2015. I am so confused and kind of down because of the OPK (not that I'm complaining about TBD or anything like that but I'm sad because I relied on the OPK) (does that make sense?) So my question is, do I rely on the OPK or the calculators? If anyone has any questions that will help me, please ask. I'm here all night lol. My cycle is 25 days. My BBT has been spiked for three days now and CM is watery/stretchy.

Without seeing your chart it's hard to know, but with you still having stretchy CM, sounds like maybe you haven't O'd yet, but will soon! It also sounds like the calculator you're using is skipping this month's cycle and projecting for next month maybe?? According to the book TCOYF, you ovulate on the last day you have fertile CM.
I don't really have an answer for you, just wanted to commiserate & say hi! I'm new to the forums, but am 42 and also ttc with my BF who doesn't have any kids of his own. We have been ntnp for 2+ years with no results except one chemical preg in July. I decided this cycle to be more aggressive and used an OPK on CD 8 and got a positive the very first test. That threw me for a loop, but since my cycles have become progressively shorter, thought maybe it was right. I used the Clearblue advanced so I couldn't test again for 48 hours. On CD 14 I got another positive which would put O at CD 15 approx, but with all my info entered in an app, it was calculated I ovulated CD13. SO, no idea when I truly ovulated--I don't get EWCM anymore like I used to in my younger days so I can't even use that. I don't know if my hormones are out of whack or what, but I plan on temping this next cycle to see if I can figure it out. Currently I'm 9 dpo (If CD 15 is when it happened), but got a BFN today.

Hi there , Cali! Thank you for saying hi! How do you make a chart? I have all of my info from the past couple of months written down. For some reason, I can't figure out how to input it here. I can use all the help I can get. Lol

LOL. If you find an app online (a lot of people use fertility friend) it makes a chart for you that you can easily share. I guess if you chart on paper, you could always take a photo of it and post that!

Hi! I would definitely go by the opks. The online calculators are just estimates. Also start charting so you know for sure. Many of us use Fertility Friend. It worked well for me with #1 so here I am ttc #2. Here's the link - you'll get 30 vip days to test it out. http://fertilityfriend.com/ffo/invite.p ... c156a1807e
Let me know if you have any more questions! I'm 41 so I know how challenging this can be.

Also, once you get your chart setup follow these steps and you can put it in your signature like mine is.
Take out the spaces from this:
My Ovulation Chart[/ url]
Where the xxxxx are, put your specific url name.

Thank you sooooo much for the help! I went to it and entered my data that i had written down but it wouldn't show my results. Only for today. It's not picking up that i have already ovulated. I will figure it all out later today. This is all making me feel so silly lol

I see it! I only see temps for cd10-15 though. It doesn't look like you've O'd yet though based on what I see. Are you still doing opks? Sometimes you can get a couple of surges before your body actually decides to O.

Hi Southernbelle. I have a few more days and items listed now. The BBT chart is really confusing me. It says in the comments on my dashboard that i may have not ovulated. I'm confused now due to the OPK results from November 5th. My temperatures are also confusing me. Any insight?

It's hard to say. Honestly I prefer using FF. It seems to be more accurate than this site you're using. What does it say if you take out the opk? cd15 looks more likely with the ewcm though.
