Is it safe to conceive so late in in your cycle??

Postby xx english mummy xx » Tue Jan 03, 2012 2:36 pm

Hi everyone x

I have PCOS and I am on cd38 today, I know I need to lose about 20lbs to control the PCOS better but does anyone know if it is safe to conceive so late on in your cycle??

As I have PCOS most of my opk's look positive and I don't temp but I don't think I have ovulated yet as when I conceived my DS 3 years ago I got a lot of EWCM and ovulation pain and i have not had it yet this cycle.

Thanks in advance for your replies x

Hi- I ovulated somewhere around day 42 of my cycle and I am now 24 weeks pregnant with a healthy boy. Good luck!

I don't think it matters when in your cycle you ovulate and then conceive. It is harder to catch the egg with long irregular cycles since you don't know when O day is coming but I don't think it adversely affects a pregnancy if one takes place.

aww thank you ladies for putting my mind a rest!

I remember when we were trying for our son I ovulated at cd20 but I was 17lbs lighter! I am working on it, managed to lose 6lbs over christmas so if I can do it then I can carry on!

Im so happy I found this thread. Im currently on cd74. I have been using OPK strips on and off for the last month and a half (kinda gave up since my cycle was so long). I got + OPK strips on Thurs & yesterday and have had O pains since wed. The O pains went away yesterday. My hubby and I bd on wed and fri so hopefully we caught it if it was true ov. Now im have been experiencing very dull cramps in my lower abd yesterday and today (the I only get the day AF makes her arrival), its very strange for me to get them for more than a few hours, and my nipples are so painful-wearing a bra hurts. Ive also noticed that I have visited the bathroom a few more times than usual yesterday and today. Hearing about a BFP on cd 93 makes me think there is hope!! Weve been trying for 6m and ive only had AF 2 times. THe dr did bloodwork on cd 60 to check my hormone levels & my thyroid and everything was normal. Sorry this is so long, but its the first thread on any website that ive found about women with very long cycles conceiving very late in their cycle.
