Did I miss something obvious?

atm, I only use CM as an indicator of ovulation (OPKs would be too expensive, I don't really want to get into obsessing about temping!)
My cycle varies from 30-38 days, so I kinda watch like a hawk for any EWCM from day 14 onwards.
This month I thought I did everything right, but the blasted witch AF turned up today, so now I don't know if I mistimed things, or I was just unlucky.
DH had a bad cold, so I wonder if that affected things (it certainly reduced his libido!)

I had EWCM on CD 16-18, and we BD'ed on CD 13, 18 and 19. I estimated that af would be between CD 30-32 (I was a day off, and it started today).

I know it's difficult to say without temps or OPK results, but did we get the timing right, going from when I had EWCM? So confused!

Sounds like your timing was OK. Might help if you BD the first night of EWCM too?

But even with perfect timing, it can still take a few cycles to get pregnant. GL!

If you buy your OPKs online it is much cheaper. I buy mine from amazon.com and I just got 100 OPKs and 20 pregnancy tests for 20 dollars. Just another option :)

Hi Zanna and Baby_Bumble_Bee

Thanks for your responses!

I had tried to BD on the first night of EWCM, but DH was feeling so unwell I think if I tried any harder it would've been borderline harassment!

Thanks for the tip re. OPKs! I'll certainly given them a go if we're still unsuccessful in a few cycles' time.

This month we're just going to see what happens - we're being evicted from our house and have to move in three weeks, so I really doubt if all that stress will result in a BFP! Once we've moved, we're going to ttc with a bit more of a gameplan (and hopefully DH will give up smoking soon - driving me mad!)

Thanks again, and best of luck to you both :)

Fair enough! Although it could also take longer to get pg with our DHs smoking too, which is an added frustration!

Good luck! :)

Yea I know that the guy smoking affects getting prego as well... and it does suck because we cant FORCE them to stop :)

I did however read a bunch of information about how smoking can decrease a mans sperm count by 1/3 and that kind of opened my hubbys eyes a bit and he has done a very good job of cutting down how much he smokes :)

It is difficult balancing the nagging wife with the positive encouragement!
DH is cutting back, and I know it must be hard to quit, but even aside from fertility issues I'd just wish he'd quit for his own health. Bah! Ruddy men!
