regular menstrual cycle?

Postby heleniaxy » Sat Mar 23, 2013 2:14 pm

How can I conceive if I don't have a regular menstrual cycle? I have irregular periods (a three day period like every 6 months) so pinpointing the greatest time after ovulation doesn't work for me. I heard that folic acid is good for trying so I have been taking these. I have been trying to conceive for about 2 years now & no results. What do I do?

I too agree with Hopingandwishing, you should start off by figuring out why AF isn't coming. I have never had regular AF's ever since I first started. Just now it looks like my periods are starting to become normal after taking Provera to jumpstart.

After a year ttc with no results its good to seek help from a dr. If you aren't having periods it's likely your not ovulating at all. They will run initial blood tests to figure out what the cause is. They usually test thyroid, day 21 progesterone test, amh, fsh etc & sperm test for dh You'll probably be put on clomid or provera to jump start your cycle. Don't be scared I've had all initial testing & an now going to a fertility dr & it's been really nice getting answers! Folic acid is amazing, it doesn't help you get pregnant, but it helps the baby's spinal chord develop properly thus helping prevent spina bifida so you are doing an amazing thing for your future baby!!Good luck & baby dust to you xx
