Kflores, I agree- its great to have a place to talk to other ladies that can relate to what I'm going through. Is the blood dark (brownish/black) or bright red or pink? I've learned that older blood that has been stored up there for a while is darker in color, while new blood is brighter in color. I haven't experienced what you mentioned, but I did spot a little after my internal OBGYN exam on Thursday (but then the spotting turned into a regular flow). When I had a simple ovarian cyst back in April I was bleeding more frequently (like bleeding for 5 days every other week), but I also experienced cramping and pain. When is your apt with your doctor? They may want to do an ultrasound to make sure everything is looking okay. It could also be the vitex trying to get your cycle back to normal. Are you still taking vitex?

Isis, thank you for the video!

I also wanted to mention that I started reading "On fertile ground" by Helen Adrienne LCSW. Although the book is written for women that have been diagnosed with infertility (although I technically haven't yet), I'm finding the book helpful. I'm also in the mental health counseling field, so I like that at the end of each chapter the author provides certain exercises to help the reader going through this journey.
Isis, I forgot to mention in my last post, but I would def call your doctor to remind him/her. 2 weeks sounds a little long to wait for a simple prescription to be filled.

Mrs. S, what cycle day are you in now? Did you take clomid this past cycle?

Babydust, the blood is bright red, so its fresh blood. But throughout the last month I have had random days of dark brown/black spotting. But never turns into a real flow. Its only after BD or sometimes a BM that I will have the red blood. I googled a bit (probably shouldn't have) and it may be the cause of a fiable cervix, or sensitive cervix per say. Or cancer. Doesn't everything on google lead to cancer? I'm calling today to make an appt, but my doctor is always so busy it takes a few weeks or up to a month to get in to see her. I did have an ultrasound done about a year ago, internal and external, and everything checked out fine. But, I do know that a lot can happen in a year and especially with me being off the pill who knows what my hormones have done. I do know that the ultrasounds costed me over $200, so I'm hesitant to do that again. It sucks that its so expensive. I keep putting it off cause of the money, and hoping that my body will just eventually go back to normal.

stay away from google...lol. I do the same thing and it drives me crazy. You can literally put in any symptom and it always somehow says it could be cancer. I'm so sorry to hear about the cost of ultrasounds...that stinks! Have you thought about maybe going to a planned parenthood or another clinic similar to it that may offer these procedures at a lower cost? As far as your doctor's appt, sometimes if you explain your symptoms to the receptionist they will get you in quicker if the doctor has any reason to be concerned. I remember when I had the cyst, I was getting really bad cramping. I called the receptionist and explained my symptoms to her. Even though my doc technically didn't have an appointment available for a couple of weeks, they were able to squeeze me in that day. I had to wait in the waiting room forever, but at least I was seen that day. I think its safe to say that while all of our bodies try to regulate from the damages of birth control pills, we will be experiencing some "odd" symptoms.

Hey Ladies, Im still wishing id get even a red or brownish spot at this point. Kflores, my Obgyn said the same thing about, well your body probably needs to regulate after being on BC for so long. Then she told me that i will need provera to jump start it and maybe need to do it again 2 months after that if it doesnt stay regular..ahh hate to think i need to keep taking something for me to induce a cycle. I too have talked to the nurse at my obgyn office and even then explained what was going with any symptom i had. She was really knowledgeable on giving me some answers. So many see if you can talk to a nurse and ask her what it might be?! I too have a new insurance and is hard to figure out which Drs. in my location take it, thankfully i can still see my regulars but i did get over charged for using a hospital for blood work..ouch! So as long as i make sure i use an independent place for bloodwork I'm all set. Is that something your insurance might cover, klfores?

Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies. I'm glad I found you!

kflores, I haven't had that experience with spotting/blood before. I hope you get an answer from your doctor soon. Hopefully it's nothing- will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Today is CD33 for me. I did take clomid at the start of this cycle. I took 150 mg for the first time and was slightly hopeful that I would O on that high of a dose (I started on 50 mg). I had 1 positive OPK at the end of last week and some ewcm over the weekend. However, my temp. has not yet indicated that ovulation has occurred. I plan to keep using OPKs and see what happens over the next week.

babydust, thanks for the book recommendation. I am always looking for new books about TTC. Have you found acupuncture to be helpful? My acupuncturist suggested that I try taking herbs as a next step. She is also an herbalist and will make a blend for me to take. She said I should wait until I start a new cycle. If I'm not pregnant this cycle, I think my next cycle will be unmedicated because if I do get my period, chances are it will start before my specialist appointment. I might want to try herbs before I do something more invasive. Anyone else have any experience with herbs?

Mrs. S - The only experience I have with herbs is Vitex, and so far it hasn't help induce ovulation or regulate my cycle :( But, I have heard it can take 3 months to work. So, im crossing my fingers! Let me know if there are any other herbs out there that I can take that would do the same!! I'd rather take the natural approach then dive into clomid!

Isis- I will have to check with my doc and see what is covered. I'm not sure. Health insurance is so tricky now!

I've been doing acupunture for 2 years- started because of chronic lower back pains. In January 2014 when I went off the pill he started doing fertility points. I like it- thankfully my insurance covers it in full so that's the reason why I keep going. Aside from feeling relaxed at times, I wouldn't say it's had much impact on my cycle. Someone I know did say to be careful with acupunture, just to make sure the acupunturist really has experience.

I appreciate the feedback on acupuncture. I picked someone that specializes in women's health and fertility. I hope it helps!

Hi ladies,
I'm freaking out a little bit. I just spoke to a friend that has been trying to conceive for 9 years, and is very knowledgeable about fertility treatment (western and eastern). When I mentioned that my doctor wants to start me on clomid if I'm still not ovulating in December she informed me of studies that have linked use of clomid with autism. I looked it up online and actually found a couple of studies (I put the link below). I'm freaking out because I was finally starting to get calmer now that my doctor had a plan and I had decided to lay off vitex and other natural herbs. Now, I'm thinking that I don't want to take clomid, and I'm back to feeling lost. I plan on talking to DH about what I've learned tonight and see what he thinks. I'm thinking I may wait longer before I turn to clomid or other fertility drugs. I am only 30 years old, and part of me thinks that even though I would love a baby tomorrow, if I had to wait another 1 or so years to get pregnant it wouldn't be the end of the world. I'm battling between being patient and not waiting too long. I'm so confused!

Hi Babydust, I had no idea the two were linked? I'm not anywhere near this point in ttc yet but it could definitely be brought up with me as well when we start actively trying again. I did see this website online to help boost your ovulation. Maybe making some simple diet changes is all we need.

Wow that is scary to think the two may be linked!! Definitely do your research!

I'm still sitting here waiting for AF as well. Haven't had a "normal" period since July either. I have had some brown spotting mixed with my cm today and yesterday. Just wish my body would kick into gear and ovulate! I'm still taking Vitex every day, hoping one day it will click! I haven't made a doctors appointment yet. My copay to even go in and see her is $60, plus anything else they decide to do whether it be blood drawn, ultrasound, additional tests... I just keep holding out hoping that my body will fix itself on its own. :-/ each day though, I become more and more discouraged.

isis, thanks for sharing that link. I think I have a good mix of animal and veggie protein already, but I am very much guilty of eating low-fat dairy. That seems like a pretty easy fix that I am willing to make!

In regard to the correlation of Clomid and Autism (disclaimer, I am a special education teacher and worked in autism education for many years), I have seen those articles too. My personal opinion is that there probably is correlation between clomid and autism, but not necessarily causation. Maternal and paternal age are huge risk factors for most developmental disabilities, autism included. Older moms are more likely to have a hard time getting pregnant and to take clomid- that's why I think you see the correlation. My personal experience has been that kids with autism are typically born to parents that have some type of communicative disorder themselves and/or are MUCH older (late 40s, early 50s). I took clomid and didn't have concerns that if I got pregnant while taking it my child would have a higher risk of autism.

I think it is a sensitive subject and that everyone has to go by their own compass to decide what is right for them. I too wonder if I should be seeking further more invasive treatment because I am still young. It's absolutely not easy!
