Thank you ladies for your feedback! Mrs. S, what you are saying makes a lot of sense! There is a huge difference between a correlation and a causation. It's been so frustrating for me balancing between eastern and western medicine. I feel like most western medicine doctors are so skeptical about natural remedies, but in reality most of them have never heard of the supplement. I think they are so afraid of being sued that if something has not been FDA approved they automatically advice patients against it. Meanwhile, they prescribe birth control, clomid, and all sorts of drugs like its candy without discussing with the patients the possible side effects.
I spoke with DH last night and although he is still skeptical about herbs and natural supplements, he also agrees it might be too soon to start clomid in December (as my doc recommended). Our points being: 1. we are still young in reproductive terms so could wait another year or so before feeling the pressure of our age; 2. it hasn't even been a year of ttc yet. Our new plan is as follows: no meds or herbs for the next 2 months- aside from pre-natal vitamins and eating fertility boasting foods which for the most part I already do. In December if I'm still not ovulating we will consider trying a homeopathic approach (fertilaid tea, vitex, seeing a holistic fertility specialist-depending on price) and try only that for 6 months. If by next summer, still nothing then we would consider trying clomid or fertility drugs. I'm sure my plan may change again another 100 times....lol, but I'm kind of a control freak and having a plan always helps me feel less stressed.

Isis, good luck with the doc's appointment today!
kflores, I would consider starting to check your bbt--you don't have to wait until a new cycle starts, although it is preferred. You can find them on amazon for cheap.

babydust, thanks for sharing your plan. It is really helpful to know what other people in the same situation are doing. I'm waiting for my RE consultation to make a decision about what I will do next. I feel like at this point I just don't have enough information about my situation to know what I should do. I think I would be willing to try another type of medication to help bring on ovulation. I am nearing my year anniversary of not taking BCPs and I am starting to wonder if my cycle is ever going to return to normal. It's so frustrating how much of TTC is a waiting game. The wait is even greater when you have looonnnggg cycles.

Mrs. S you mentioned that you chart bbt. Does your temp stay elevated from ovulation until af?

Hi ladies! So i wanted to give you a quick update on our my Dr. appointment went yesterday. This was with my regular physician. One thing that kinda sucks is that she doesnt do any hormonal blood testing..bummer! But I seem to be in good health all around, those red pin head "blood" spots on my body i was worried about is hereditary she said and is nothing to worry about, something about the blood rising to the surface of the skin which over time will turn brown like a freckle. She did request the usual blood work for me ( white/red blood cell count, vitamin deficiency etc.) along with a urine sample which i should get back in about a week. She does want me to see a dermatologist for some moles. She also said that it could take time for my cycle to return, but my OB is taking the right steps. So thats good!

Also after this appointment i got my results back from my colposcopy from my abnormal pap back and the results were NORMAL and NEG! No signs of dysplasia or precancer! I willl now continue with my yearly..unless anything else comes up before that appointment.

Mrs. S, I feel the same way about being close to a year off BC, and no cycle in site. I will try provera one more time from what my Obgyn said it could take a couple of cycles on provera and even then it might have to be more of a planned pregnancy when we get to that point. Im hopeing with all this stress behind me this provera will jump start my cycle and keep going! Just wait to see what your RE says and if its the right direction you want to go towards.

Babydust, great plan! Some times when you lose the pressure of ttc your stress and anxiety will go away and your body might be able to get pregnant sooner that's what my DF and I are doing, no more opks, etc. Especially with the wedding coming up in the Dominican Republic, DF doesn't want to get pregnant now in case we do and something happens in a foreign country. I cant say i blame him, but were just seeing what happens naturally for now.

isis, I live in Boston, where are you in MA? I've never taken provera, I was given a prescription once, but blood work confirmed that I ovulated so I was told not to take it. I hope that it works for you. I wish that was presented to me as an option before I tried clomid.

Babydust, this is only my second cycle tracking my bbt. Last cycle my temp. rose and stayed high until a day before AF came. My temps. this cycle have been a little erratic, which is concerning to me. I'm not sure if it is due to restless sleep or my body being really out of whack. It has been really helpful for me because I know to keep BDing until I see a sustained temperature rise. In past cycles, I didn't BD as long as I could have and I think that might be a factor in why I haven't gotten pregnant yet.

Mrs. S. I live right out side of Boston. Provera is just to induce a period as far as i knew, you would take it will clomid if you werent ovuating on your own. Im pretty sure i ovulate on my own but no blood test has confirmed that just me testing with opks.Stress can do a number to your body especially your cycle so that could be it by your body is out of wake this month.

I live in New York. Yes, provera is meant to bring on a progestorone induced period. Clomid on the other hand is supposed to stimulate the ovaries and assist with ovulation. Just found out about a friend that had her second miscarriage at 10 weeks along :(. She was also on the pill, got pregnant right away, had a miscarriage at 8 weeks. After a few months got pregnant again and just had her second miscarriage. When I heard the story I took a moment to be thankful for my situation. As upset as I am about not getting pregnant and not ovulating, it made me realize that there are people going through even more difficult situations ttc. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I will ovulate sometime this week. I'm planning on starting testing opk today- day 10 of my cycle.

I live in San Diego, CA.
No update with me here. Still no AF. I have random spotting some times, but nothing ever starts from it. As much as I'd like Provera to induce my period, what I really want is to actually ovulate.

babydust, i'm so sorry for your friend. And, your right. I guess we should be thankful and know that it could be worse.

Hey ladies, i agree with klores, we should be thankful for our situation for now. No new update with me either and no AF not even a speck! Waiting on my blood pregnancy test to come back to my Dr can put me on provera to induce my cycle.

Hi Ladies,
I finally broke down and made an appt with my doctor. I was just trying to hold out for as long as I could, but last night my husband was asking me, "So you still haven't had your period? And your sure your not pregnant?" I told him that I was just trying to save our money and hold out as long as I could, and then he told me that he understands but really wants me to feel better about everything and told me to make an appointment and encouraged the whole thing. That really made me feel better about it all, knowing that he is on board too. The doctor can't get me in for a few weeks, but it still feels nice knowing that its in the books and hopefully I can get some answers soon. I plan to ask for a blood test to check my hormones and discuss provera to induce my period. Anything else you ladies think I should bring up to my doctor?

That's great kflores! Sometimes AF is also delayed due to stress, so its great that making this doctor's appointment is relieving some of that stress for you. It's also great that DH is being so understanding and supportive. I find that for my doctor appointments it helps me to write down on a piece of paper all of the questions I have. This way when I get there, I don't forget to ask anything. Weren't you the person that mentioned difficulty with bleeding sometimes after intercourse or BM? If so, I would definitely ask your doctor about that as well. It might also be a good idea to let your doctor know that you have been using vitex just to make sure that whatever he/she prescribes doesn't interfere. Keep a pen and paper by your side and whenever you think of something from now until your apt add it to that paper.

Hi kflores, im glad you decided to make an appointment with your dr. better safe then sorry. Great to heard that DH is so understanding about it, my DF keeps asking me about my period as well, but ive had multiply blood test done in the past 3 months im definately not. I think babydust is right, take notes! I forgot last time babydust suggested it and for a few questions i had, definately a must do! :) Depending on how long you were off the pill, and hadnt had a period i hope they test your hormones, my obgyn hadnt even suugested that to me when i saw her in sept. I had to get another blood preg. test last friday to make sure i wasnt pregnant so she can start provera. November will be 1 year off the pill for me.
