Soy cycle. Anyone?

Postby luvinmybelly » Fri Apr 08, 2011 3:25 pm

I gave up on the Fertilitea. I just didn't see enough changes to keep waiting for it to work. (really all it did was make my period heavy. I still didn't O until CD23, I guess) I went to walmart and bought EPO and Soy Isoflavones. I plan to take 80mg CD1-5 of the soy. I thought maybe on CD 3 I'd up and do 120mg if it doesn't give me headaches. (I'm going to take it at night) I think I'll hold off on EPO, they were only $6 a piece so it's not a waste. I couldn't decide in store which I was going to try. I needed to consult Dr Google some more. Haha

Sound like a decent game plan? Anybody want to be my SI cycle buddy?

Well till anyone joins me I'll just keep a log of my experience with soy.

Took 80mg with dinner last night. No big issues. I did wake up with a migraine but I could feel that coming on before i took the soy. Seems weather related. Had a hot flash this morning but that could also be attributed to the mingraine or my period or my disrupted sleep from DH coming home. I didn't sleep very well at all, I usually don't in the first half of my cycles.

I'll start temping tomorrow. I forgot to this morning. I'm a horrible charter. I'll be using opks to help back up my temps. I just don't know when to start using them.

I'm afraid I am in the dark about soy. I am only just starting my TTC journey and so I won't be talking to my doctor more in depth until the 26th. You have my interest because I've recently started a mostly-soy diet to try to lose some weight. I'm curious about what exactly soy is supposed to do for your cycle? Would it be easier for me to consult with "Dr. Google" as well?

Here's a great article about it.

http://www.twoweekwait.com/newsletter/2006-01/

Its supposed to help women who don't ovulate or who have irregular cycles. If your regular I've read it actually can screw up your cycles. I also read it's not good to take if you eat a lot of soy in your diet.

Thanks! I'll read it! My cycles are irregular (between 32-66 days). I haven't really noticed a lot of difference this month cycle wise. I have noticed I am more irritable, a lot more irritable. But dieting can do that all by itself. I'll read up on it. Thanks again!

Oh yes, dieting makes me a monster. Haha I've been working out more and eating less and gained 5 pounds. LoL! If you give soy a try keep me posted.

Took another 80mg last night. I had a migraine all day and it seemed worse after I took it but this morning i woke up and I'm fine. No real changes, but I'm glad the headache was gone. I was going to quit if I still had it, it was that bad. I don't think it was related to the soy though. I usually get a headache with AF. It's like the icing on her poop cake.

I don't guess I will start soy while I'm on this diet. (I'm getting up to 95mg a day.) I wish I had been tempting longer, I definitely see a change in my chart this month from last. (I O'd four days earlier.) Wish I knew how my other months measured up. Interesting.

I hope your headache isn't due to :af: . I usually get one right before too. I'm going to be not-so-silently stalking you. I hope soy is the answer for you (us). ;)

Day 4.

Still have a mild headache, but I'm certain it's from this insane weather of hot one day cold the next. My period has basically come to a halt. I wonder if it's from the soy. It was just spotting for the past 3 days and nothing today. But last cycle did this and on the 4th day it really picked up. So hopefully today I start really bleeding. (never thought I'd say THAT!) haha! I know it can't be IB, it was far too long since we last DTD to be it, so it's just taking some time getting started. I have had pinchy pains on both sides of my lower abdomen since yesterday. That's new.

Wow, your chart is crazzzzy!! (looks like mine. lol) I would have thought at least one of those dips were an O! When do you normally ovulate? Have you ever tried clomid? I read that for women who clomid doesnt work for, soy won't work either. I have no experiance with clomid though, so I was just curious. Good luck!

Day 5.

Last update unless something changes for a while. Tonights the last dose. I've been having the WORST mood swings of my life. And my boobs are killing me. Usually they stop hurting when AF starts, but they've gotten worse. I can't imagine taking clomid and this being worse. Headache is gone, thank the lord! And after no bleeding yesterday, I'm bleeding nice and good today. I don't really attribute that to the soy, my periods have been known to be a little funky sometimes. So...lets hope the big O comes earlier this month! FX!

I don't know if I'm sensitive to the soy or what, but it's making me insanely emotional. Like, abnormally emotional for me. Mood swing-y. And the hot flashes are driving me nuts. I'm not sure I'll be using it again next month.

 is what I feel like currently. Not in an embarassed sort of way, in a 'i'm melting' sort of way.

I have to go google "soy isoflavone sensitivity".

Okay, to update, CD 9. Nothing to report other than my temps are less rocky than they normally are. But I'm still spotting. I have been spotting with only a small amount of actual bleeding for 9 days. Never, ever in my life has this happened. DH says it's my body clearing out the junk in order to operate 'normally'. haha gotta love a mans perspective.
