How many mg of vitamin B6?

Postby CypKitty » Thu May 05, 2011 4:41 am

Looking at my past two cycles, my luteal phase seems to be short, only 11-12 days. So I read up on it and bought myself some B6. They are 240mg tablets - is this too much?

Oh and I already have 35 dayish cycles lol so I guess it will make the cycle longer but I need a baby to develop and I will go anything :)

11-12 days isn't terribly short but I bet b6 would help. Yes 250 is a lot. I was taking 200 at the most, but that's b/c my LP was like 7 days long, lol. You could cut them in half, then you'd be getting 125 which is still a really good amount. I think most people take about 100 mg. Warning, though, it can make you O late if you take it before O, so you should start after O. It still works that way (worked for me!). Good Luck!!

I just looked up B6 in a book I have called, " Getting Pregnant Naturally" by Winifred Conkling and it said to not take more than 150 milligrams of B6 a day without consulting a doctor. The book recommends taking 50 milligrams, three times a day. Hope that helps and Good Luck!

I am not sure Re the number but did hear B-vits are better absorbed taken in a B-complex.

From what I understand, extra b-vit's are passed through urine...it's why you pee highlighter yellow when taking them!! When I learned I had a short LP with my first, I took a b-50 complex from cycle day 1 until I was about 8wks preggers. Got preg the first time I tried it. No such luck this time around. :(
