Progesterone troches

Postby montanarunner » Sun May 15, 2011 4:50 am

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd throw this out there.

I just started using progesterone troches this cycle. You know, the kind that are compounded in the lab, and then you dissolve them under your tongue or between your cheek and gum.

Has anyone else used these? If so, did you have any side effects?

Thanks,

mr

Goobermom- did your dr prescribe progesterone or did you decide? I have a suspicion that I have low progesterone but my dr doesn't think so/won't test me!

They are waaay less messy. I don't have to wear a pad at all this cycle, and I did with the suppositories.

I think I am getting more progesterone this way, BUT I am 95% sure I am pregnant (tomorrow I'm testing) so I don't know if it's pregnancy symptoms or the troche that is making me feel this way.

I do like the troches, though. They are called bio-identical hormones, which means your body recognizes it better and can use it better. The pharmacy that compounds mine made them peppermint flavor, so it doesn't taste so bitter (progesterone is really nasty, I've heard).

kizziedee- i found out that i was low on progesterone during a chemical pregnancy, and then the RE had me do the prescription form with all my IUI's. during unmedicated cycles i did a cream from a natural foods store, which an acupunturist recommended i do. with my m/c last fall my progesterone was low/borderline even with meds. just this cycle (1 1/2 years into working with a dr.)they are doing a progestrone test during my LP doh?!?!? so we will see what that shows

push again and ask them to do it!

Hello!

Just wanted everyone to know I got my BFP. I do believe it was the troches that helped. My progesterone (taken yesterday) was 34, which is high normal. That's after only taking 150mg 1x/day. With the prometrium, I was taking 400mg a day, and STILL getting low normal results.

I know that prometrium works for some women, but obviously my body wasn't utilizing it the way it was supposed to. It's something to check into if you're interested.
