I transferred two great blasts and I'm pg with one little bean :-) - I'm also young so they wouldn't transfer more than two for me unless they were all very bad quality.
Me- 27- Tests show everything works perfectly!
DH- 36- SA results = 80 million, 30% motility (3% forward progressive), <1% strict morphology- Diagnosis= severe male factor infertility

IVF #1, 11/09- BFP! Its a girl! Born 8/18/09

Tried naturally for 1.5 years after my DD was born... guess things still don't work right!

FET #1, 01/11- BFP! at 6w

IVF #2- 5/11- 11 eggs retrieved, 9 fert! Hoping for a day 5 transfer.... grow babies grow!!
5/31/11- BPF!! on FRER!
Baby girl #2 due 2/10/12 :)

You girls are so wonderful!!! Thank you so much for your comments. I was showing my husband all of these and I really think that after he is finished with all his testing that his stress level will come down and he will think more clearly. It looks like he is leaning towards two again. I am 28 so the chances of them both sticking is good. I just won't tell DH that! LOL

Congratulations to all of you on your miracles. How wonderful!

Please, keep it coming if anyone else would like to comment.

Thank you all and have a wonderful day!

I agree with the people, transfer 2 if you can. I transferred 2 and both took so you do need to take the possibility of twins into account. However, IVF is so hard to go through that I wouldn´t have transferred just the one! GL with your decision! :D

i think it is a very individual decision based on egg quality, etc.

i was advised to transfer 1 from the get go.

like most i thought that sounded ludicrous.

my fresh cycle i transferred 2 blasts & both took. i lost them both separately a little after 12 wks due to an infection which my fertility specialist believes was caused by the strain of carrying twins (1 implanted low).

after such a traumatic loss i decided to only transfer 1 frozen & it didn't take.

next go around i argued w/ the doctor & really struggled w/ the decision. the doctors, nurses & embryologist strongly advised doing 1 again. they pleaded w/ me to look long term - i wanted a healthy baby, not an iffy pregnancy. afraid to risk the pregnancy i transferred 1 blast & it took. today i'm 9.5 wks preg.
33 yrs old, unexplained infertility, ttc since 5/06, 3/07 chlomid and iui, 4/07 injections and iui, 5/07 lap w/ mild endo removed, 6/07 chem preg naturally, July and Aug '08 injectables (1 w/ iui), Sept-Dec '08 ttc on a break, 2/08 1st ivf retrieved 6 embys, 5det (2 embys) w/ assisted hatching, BFP, TWINS!! (4 on ice), due 10/31/08, m/c twins on 4/21/08, 10/24/08 1st FET (single blast) BFN, 2nd FET Thanksgiving (single blast), 12/11 BFP, beta 1068, team pink, due august 14, gave birth to a 6lb baby girl Tess on august 5 2009

Oh my goodness. I am sorry to hear that but I am so happy that you had two healthy babies. Did you have any more children the other two times if you don't mind me asking?

how many eggs

I have a 10yr old son that was conceived naturally, but it took 9 years of ttc before we had him. I did two fresh cycles if IVF and had a set of buy/girl twins with each. So I got 4 babies for the price of 2 IVF cycles (talk about getting my money's worth..lol)

Oh wow!!! That is amazing! So you have five kids right now! I would love lots of kids but that isn't going to happen for me unfortunately. My DH is a bit older than I am and he only wants to try one time so that's why I am hoping for twins. :shh:

how many

Postby momoftwins » Wed Jan 14, 2009 1:46 pm

I only have 3 living children. I delivered my first set of twins at 27 weeks and they only lived one day.

My DH is older than me too and he only agreed to have a child b/c it meant so much to me, but after our first son was born, he was so much in love with him that he is the one that wanted to try the second IVF to see if we could have another one. I hope the same thing happens for you. He may change his mind after he sees how great being a parent is.

Having twins is great! It is so much fun. I enjoyed my first son so much, but it was nothing compared to watching the twins with each other. I think my twins are easier than my first son b/c he always wanted me to be with him and it was difficult to get things done, but the twins entertain each other a lot.

We transferred 2 embryos on our first IVF cycle and one stuck! At the transfer it didn't look like we'd have any that would make it to freeze, so I was definitely up for transferring 2!

Congratulations Shemo!!!

Momoftwins- My hubby already has a set of twins with his first marriage. I guess I didn't say that at the beginning. Sorry about that. So that's why he doesn't want another set. I would love another set. More children to love!!! I love my step daughters so much but they are not with us every day. I just want to be a mommy so bad.

how many eggs

Postby momoftwins » Fri Jan 16, 2009 10:57 am

Kami..I know how you feel. I didn't care how many or what gender they were, I just wanted to be a Mommy. I just don't think men get that. My twins are so much fun. I think they are even easier to take care of than my first son, b/c they entertain each other. I hope you IVF goes well and I know you will be a great Mommy.
