Find out gender of embies at ET?

Postby jlojenjen » Wed Apr 13, 2011 2:37 pm

So...I posted this on my normal april board, but I wanted to take a poll from all of you. We had our ET today with 2 embryos. They did a CGH chromosome test, to rule out any chromosome abnormalities. We had two normal ones out of six.

They asked us if we wanted to know the gender of both embies. We declined...for now...but can call at anytime to find out.

What would you do? :)

You are so lucky they asked you! When we had the chromosome testing done they just told us at ET "two female blastocysts" both times and didn't even give us a chance! I would rather not know, personally, but it's totally up to you. Would you find out further along in your pregnancy anyways?

Good luck!!! :D

I would call to find out after getting a BFP. I think it would be hard to know the genders if it didn't work...if that makes sense...but as soon as I got a BFP I would be on the phone wanting to know!!!

GL and I hope you get your BFP!!!

If you think that you would have wanted to find out at a scan then you may as well get them to tell you once you know that you are pregnant since there would be more certainty in knowing that way that relying on a tech doing an US, giving you his/her best guess on what the gender is. Babies don't always like to cooperate at the best of times and especially when we are hoping to find out the gender it seems! Took my tech 2 tries a week apart and even then she was only 80% sure. I had to keep all my receipts for everything'just in case'.

That being said I'll be waiting for my US since I didn't get DNA testing done. Guess I'll save a shoe box for my receipts again! lol

Trust me, I've thought of that! I think I've decided that at the very least I'll wait to find out if we're pregnant, and then how many heartbeats.

If we have two heartbeats, I may still wait until the gender scan, and just confirm it with the RE afterwards (just to avoid buying the wrong color:)

If only one takes, I may still wait til the gender scan, then call the RE. If they were both same gender, we know for sure. If not, well, then, I guess I'll have to trust the ultrasound :)

I'm just praying I end up in that wonderful dilemma!!! Just to have a bfp will be the answers to our prayers! I suppose the gender part is just icing on the cake!!!
