FET after IVF success

Postby desperategrl » Sun Jul 31, 2011 3:13 pm

Hey! So I had my son in may and I'm already planning on my next baby obsession extravaganza..lol. I did IVF and have 7 frozen babies. I'm thinking of doing the FET next summer. Do you think that's too soon / how long will you or did you wait?

Well, I have a 2 1/2 yr old and am now doing my 2nd cycle (fet), my first one was a bfn. So, I guess there is no timeline...just when you are ready. I don't think that is too soon as long as you are ready. I remember feeling that way as soon as I had my girls...like I wanted to do it again pretty quickly...but then as time went on, I wanted to wait a bit more. So, for me it was kind of an up and down thing....I knew I wanted to have another baby...just wasnt sure when. Now, I'm ready! Just waiting on my bfp! :)

I agree with Lovyla. I had wanted to start the FET process when my twins were about 9 months old. But DH wound up switching jobs, and so we were forced to wait. I am in the process of FET #1 right now (they are just about 18 months). Looking back now, I am kind of glad we waited until the twins were a little older to start. I feel that they'll be more willing/able to accept another baby by the time they are almost 2 and a half...at least that's what I'm hoping. lol GOod luck with your decisioN!

There is no timeline and I think that you should do what you feel most comfortable with.

We had our first son and 4 months later I tried a fresh cycle of IVF which didn't take and then another 4 months later we did a FET and it took and gave us the twins. Our oldes and the twins are 16 months apart. Its a lot of work, but I wouldn't have done it differently.

Hey girl! I have been thinking/planning this out as well (and Mia is only a few weeks old lol  ).

We actually only have one day 6 embryo left so we are not guaranteed it will thaw at all when the time comes. Plus my RE said he doesn't know how good our chances will be since we did 2 this past time and only 1 took.

Right now ...... we plan on paying off our IVF loan in March or so (hopefully) and then starting to save a little at a time for a FET in 18 months to 2 years? Baby fever hits me so strongly that we may try before. Just all depends on financials too.

If our thaw doesn't work we plan on trying IVF one more time. Obviously that's going to take quite a bit more money though ... so if that happens we may have to wait longer :( .

I am determined to not have kids 6 years apart again  . Autumn will be 6 in Oct and Mia was just born and although it has it's benefits it wasn't what I wanted at all. I think 3-4 years is the limit on age difference within my mind lol.
