Age: 33 (32 when we did IVF)
How long TTC: 9 months
Diagnosis or any known issues: PCOS for me, 2% morphology for DH
Treatments you tried before IVF: clomid + 3 IUIs, one femara + bravelle IUI
How many IVF did you do before success: 1!
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: no
Protocol (meds taken): Follistim was my only stim drug
How many follicles at ER: Don't know
How many eggs retrieved: 17 eggs, 11 were mature
How many eggs fertilized: 8 with ICSI
How many days between ER and ET: 4
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 2 transferred, 1 great, 1 good
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: the usual... cramps, bloating, sore boobs all possibly from hCG or progesterone; then crazy heartburn which I never get the night before I got the BFP
What day you got your BFP: 8dp4dt, aka 12dpo; but it was DARK so I could have tested days earlier probably
HPT before blood test: yup
Number of first beta: 914 at 16dpo, 1632 at 18dpo
Number of babies: 2!
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process?: It's an emotional rollercoaster, but I could have guessed that! And that the worst part was actually the 4 days that the embryos were in the dishes. I never would have guessed that one, but it was so strange. Felt MUCH better after transfer.

Age: 31
How long TTC: 5 years
Diagnosis or any known issues: Unexplained infertility. I have a diagnosis of elevated natural killer cells and antiphospholipid antibodies (NOT the syndrome), but not sure how much of a role that played in my infertility.
Treatments you tried before IVF: Lots and lots of timed intercourse, TI+Clomid, medicated IUIs (injectibles and clomid)
How many IVF did you do before success: I had success on my third frozen transfer, but it was all part of the same initial IVF batch of embryos.
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: Nope
Protocol (meds taken): I did Mini IVF, and the meds were as follows: Clomid 50mg on CD7-15, Follistim 75iu on CD8-13, hCG trigger shot on CD15
How many follicles at ER: Not sure on day of ER, but two days prior, I had 14 follicles
How many eggs retrieved: 11 eggs were retrieved, 10 of those mature
How many eggs fertilized: All 10 mature eggs were fertilized (with ICSI)
How many days between ER and ET: About one month. The clinical trial I'm in prefers to do frozen transfers the month after ER.
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 1 Day 6 expanded blast was transferred. I'm not sure of the actual quality rating, but I was told it was "very good".
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: 3dp6dt: I experienced the "burrowing" feeling that I had read about in the past. 5dp6dt: sensitive teeth, slight queasiness. 6dp6dt: peeing several times in the night, more slight queasiness. 7dp6dt: headache, queasiness, feeling hungover.
What day you got your BFP: The evening of 4dp6dt
HPT before blood test: Of course!
Number of first beta: All betas: 8dp6dt/14dpo - 124; 10dp6dt/16dpo - 317; 16dp6dt/22dpo - 6,289; 23dp6dt/29dpo - 32,961
Number of babies: One little boy!
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process?: Be your own advocate! Due to years of infertility, I already did this, but it is still so important. Ask questions, take notes, know what is going on with your embryos and your body. It's your money, after all!

Age: 35
How long TTC: 3.5 years
Diagnosis or any known issues: Unexplained infertility, although I have mild hypothyroidism, mild endometriosis (removed via lap in 2011), ulcerative colitis, and very low AMH for my age
Treatments you tried before IVF: 7 or 8 IUIs with Clomid, Femara, and Bravelle in various combinations. Also had a laparoscopy that found minimal amounts of mild endometriosis on my abdominal wall, which likely had little to no effect on my fertility.
How many IVF did you do before success: Worked on the first try!
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: Nope
Protocol (meds taken): One month on birth control pills, followed by microdose Lupron (switched to Orgalutran after 1 week because of a prescription mixup at the hospital, which worked even better!), Bravelle, Menopur
How many follicles at ER: I'm not sure, but I think about 9?
How many eggs retrieved: 6
How many eggs fertilized: 3, but we lost one embryo shortly before we arrived on the morning of the transfer
How many days between ER and ET: 3
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: Two embryos, one A1 and one A2 (so, awesome!)
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: None that I can really remember, but I put my sweet 17-year-old kitty down a few days before I got my first positive test, so I was a jumble of emotions.
What day you got your BFP: Evening of 8dp3dt, but I kept it to myself until 10dp3dt, which happened to be Father's Day.
HPT before blood test: Uh, yes.
Number of first beta: I only had one beta and it was at 13dp3dt and was 330.
Number of babies: One healthy little babe that had a heart rate of 150 and was measuring perfectly at my last ultrasound just over a week ago. =)
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process?: Let yourself feel whatever emotions come your way whenever you need to. This is a stressful time and if you need to check out for a day or two in the middle of it...do it for your own sanity. The stress of IVF was compounded during my first trimester because of a bit of spotting and knowing too much about things that can go wrong. Subchorionic Hemorrhage is more common with IVF and is often the cause of spotting...they are usually not harmful, but incredibly stressful. You will get through it! I'm now 14 weeks and finally starting to be able to just enjoy the fact that there's a little being growing away in there! Also, nothing could prepare me the sheer joy at seeing that second line for the first time (not from a trigger shot).

Age: 35

How long TTC: 2 years, 8 months

Diagnosis or any known issues: I have a damaged right tube, DH has some swimmer issues

Treatments you tried before IVF: 6 medicated cycles (clmid and follistim) but only 1 IUI and 1 cycle timed BD because I kept Oing on my bad side.

How many IVF did you do before success: Two fresh cycles and one FET

Are you using donor eggs or sperm: No

Protocol (meds taken): BCP, Lupron, Estrace and PIO (for FET) Did BCP, Lupron, Menopur and Follistim for fresh cycles.

How many follicles at ER: I don't remember!

How many eggs retrieved: IVF #1 - 8, IVF #2 - 20!

How many eggs fertilized: IVF #1 - 3 of 8, IVF #2 14 of 20.

How many days between ER and ET: IVF #1 - 3, IVF #2 - 5

How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 2 each time.

Symptoms or issues during 2WW: With my BFPs (IVF #1 was a chemical) I had headaches and mild AF cramps.

What day you got your BFP: IVF #1 - 7dp3dt, with FET - 4dp6dt

HPT before blood test: Yes! I used FRERs - it's worth splurgin on the big guns when you've put yourself through so much crap!

Number of first beta: IVF #1 - 66, FET - 197 (two days later IVF #1 - 9, FET - 430)

Number of babies: Twinks!

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this
process?: It's just really, really hard - but it DOES work! It's incredibly discouraging to have a failed IVF cycle (worse than any of my other zillions of failed cycles), but if you can find it in yourself and your bank account to keep trying you definitely should! Also, make sure you have an RE (and a nursing staff) that you feel confident in! You're paying them so much money, you need to make sure you're getting what you're paying for!
Me (Meg) - 35, DH - 32
TTC #1 since Nov 2009 (2 1/2+ yrs)
IF due to a damaged right tube & MFI (low numbers + ASA)

BFP July 2010, m/c 6w1d (ectopic)

Aug 2011- Jan 2012: 6 medicated cycles (Clomid & Follistim) - 1 IUI, 4 cancelled cycles (Oing on my right side), 1 cycle timed BD, all BFN

IVF#1 Feb/March: chemical, no frosties
IVF#2 April/May: BFN, 3 frosties
FET #1 July 24 (transferred 2, 3rd didn't survive the thaw) BFP!
-Beta #1 (8dp6dt) 197
-Beta #2 (10dp6dt) 430
-1st u/s 5w5d - It's twins!

Age: 31 when IVF was successful, started TTC at age 26

How long TTC: 5 long years

Diagnosis or any known issues: unexplained, no issues ever found with either of us

Treatments you tried before IVF: 3 "perfect" Clomid IUIs all with 2+ follicles and lots of swimmers, lots of BDing

How many IVF did you do before success: 1st time was a charm, we're very blessed to have 7 frozen embryos for future FETs

Are you using donor eggs or sperm: neither

Protocol (meds taken): Ganirelix with lupron trigger, I didn't take any BCPs before the cycle, started on day 3 of cycle with Gonal-F. My LH was Low Dose HCG on days 7, 8 and 9 of cycle. Triggered on day 10 of cycle with Lupron. I stimmed for only 7 days. Ganirelix on days 7, 8, and 9 to prevent early ovulation. RE monitored me daily and adjusted the FSH dosage daily according to my blood levels of hormones. He was worried I'd hyperstim.

How many follicles at ER: They didn't measure follies on day of retrieval but on trigger day (cycle day 10) I had 20 follies on my right ovary and 13 on my left ovary

How many eggs retrieved: 21 retrieved, 20 mature

How many eggs fertilized: 13 fertilized with ICSI (we requested ICSI seeing we never got a BFP on our own and figured why go through IVF stims and NOT do ICSI)

How many days between ER and ET: 5 days

How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 2 blasts transferred, both were graded as A. We ended up with 7 to freeze after day 6 in culture.

Symptoms or issues during 2WW: None really. Lots of peeing especially at night. Plus I was really bloated feeling which didn't go away for a long time. RE said my ovaries were the size of grapefruits!

What day you got your BFP: 5dp5dt was a squinter on a FRER, 6dp5dt was better and by day 7p5dt the BFP was obvious

HPT before blood test: Yes, everyday from 5dp5dt until beta day at 9dp5dt

Number of first beta: 162 9dp5dt and then 942.6 at 13dp5dt

Number of babies: Only 1 (RE said each embryo has about a 50/50 chance of implanting at best odds)

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process?:
It was really hard to make the decision to move forward with IVF especially since we were unexplained and I felt like maybe if I tried x, y or z, I'd get pregnant. Unfortunately, x, y, an z never worked. Going through IVF was the best decision I ever made, though it was scary and I had lots of doubts. I sought the help of an IF counselor I found through Resolve's website. She was a God-send and had gone through her own IF struggle. She really helped me move forward to begin the process. Find the best RE in your area to work with you. Check out how they compare with other REs by comparing their Donor Egg SART statistics, as Donor Egg really shows how well their lab works with the best quality eggs. Look at their live birth rate. Do your research. And keep all your receipts as IVF, mileage, co-pays, tolls, even acupuncture is all tax deductible if it's more than 10% of your gross income. http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc502.html Then when cycling, pray and hope for the best. Good luck!
Me (Paula) 31 DH 35
TTC#1 since 2007 3 failed but perfect IUI
IVF w/ICSI #1
Antagonist Cycle no BCPs 21 retrieved, 20 mature, 13 fertilized, transfered 2 day five blasts, froze 7 day six
3/12 BFP 6dp5dt

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process?:
It was hard to come to terms that the only way we could ever get pregnant was by doing IVF but after a while I accepted it and now with having our son and our little girl on the way I don't regret one thing about doing it. My DH and I are truly blessed and this process has made our bond even stronger. I believe you have to be your own advocate, do your research, ,use the knowledge of the ladies on this site to help and guide you, ask questions, don't be afraid to speak up if you don't understand something. I must of had a gazillion questions and drove my RE crazy . Luckily I had a great RE and a supportive staff of nurses to help me which I believe made both of my IVF's successful. Good luck to all of you who are just starting on this journey. Be strong and take it day by day. Hugs!

Age: 38

How long TTC: 1+ year

Diagnosis or any known issues: PCOS, blocked tubes, male factor

Treatments you tried before IVF: chaste tree berry, dong quai, clomid

How many IVF did you do before success: one

Are you using donor eggs or sperm: no

Protocol (meds taken): lupron + follistim + menopur

How many follicles at ER: approx 18 (I'm having trouble remembering)

How many eggs retrieved: 14

How many eggs fertilized: 7

How many days between ER and ET: 4

How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 2 good quality

Symptoms or issues during 2WW: Af-type cramping

What day you got your BFP: 6dp4dt

HPT before blood test: yes

Number of first beta: 188

Number of babies: 1

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process?:
It would have been nice if the doctor had let me know that #1 being on tons of hormones would make me gain a lot of weight (15lbs in 30 days), #2 that egg retrieval would hurt more than tylenol could help with, and #3 it would take longer than 8 weeks for my ovaries to shrink. Mine are still massive and I am 8 weeks pregnant. I don't think the RE was completely honest about how hard IVF is on a woman's body, particularly when she already has hormonal issues. I'm glad I'm pregnant, but in retrospect if I knew then what I know now, I may not have done IVF. I know I will not do a fresh cycle ever again. I do plan on two more frozen cycles since I have 4 frozen embryos. I'm ot trying to dissuade anyone else from doing IVF-I just found personally found that the process really messed up my body which was already pretty messed up to begin with.

Age: 30
How long TTC: 2+ years NTNP, 6+ months of actively TTC (we knew we would need IF help so just had to wait until we could do that again which is why we weren't seriously TTC the whole time).
Diagnosis or any known issues: PCOS, ovulatory dysfunction
Treatments you tried before IVF: For this pregnancy, just TTC at home, knew we would have to do IF, went straight to IVF when we had the chance and were ready. Have done 3 IUI's in the past to conceive DS#2.
How many IVF did you do before success: Just 1 thank the Lord!
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: No
Protocol (meds taken): Bravelle, Ganirelix, Ovidrel, PIO, Endometrin
How many follicles at ER: 20+
How many eggs retrieved: 19
How many eggs fertilized: 14
How many days between ER and ET: 6 days - Fresh Cycle
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 2BB embryos
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: It was only a 4 day wait so I didn't have many pregnancy symptoms but did have left over symptoms from the egg retrieval. Took a little while to fully recover.
What day you got your BFP: Nov 29th (One month ago!) at 4dp6dt or 10 DPO! :D
HPT before blood test: FRER from 4dp6dt and on! All :bfp: :D
Number of first beta: 119 at 13dpo!
Number of babies: Twins!!
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process?: Egg Retrieval is no joke! I had a lot of eggs but it was by far the hardest part. Well worth it but even now, over a month later, I still get some ovary pains now and then and still have a few follicles with fluid in them.

Age: 25
How long TTC: 1.5 years
Diagnosis or any known issues: Hydrosalpinx and scarred tubes.
Treatments you tried before IVF: No real treatments. I had a Laparascopy to remove one tube and try to repair the other, since the hydrosalpinx in a tube can be toxic to embryos.
How many IVF did you do before success: 1 fresh
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: No
Protocol (meds taken): Lupron, Follistim (75-125 units a day), Menopur (75 units a day), HCG trigger (did a half dose of 5000 units)
How many follicles at ER: Way too many for them to count... Over 50
How many eggs retrieved: 41 and all mature
How many eggs fertilized: 28
How many days between ER and ET: 5
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: Transferred one perfect embryo and have 7 similar quality snowbabies.
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: None noticeable. But I had early onset OHSS which was so miserable I think it masked anything else.
What day you got your BFP: 5d5dt
HPT before blood test: Of course! Like a million tests a day lol +
Number of first beta: 117 at 9dp5dt
Number of babies: 1
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process?: I jumped straight into IVF since it was my only option, and I had no experience with any of the meds or treatments. It was so overwhelming, it seriously felt like going from the kiddie pool to being dropped into the middle of the ocean. And OHSS really beat me down pretty hard. I don't think there is really a way to prepare for it all because reading about is nothing like the real thing, but it's REALLY helpful to have the help of women who are going through the same thing and/or have gone through it before. They're so reassuring and made everything a lot more bearable! :D So my advice is get involved on the boards and join a IVF group! They often saved my sanity, I swear.
Me (Whitney): 25; Right tube removed due to hydrosalpinx and left tube/ovary covered in scar tissue/adhesions
DH: 26; great swimmers
Married June 2009 & TTC #1 since June 2011
Aug-Sept 2012 IVF: ER 41 eggs, 41 Mature, 28 Fertilized, transferred 1 5AA and have 7 snowbabies!
BFP 9/10/2012 @ 5dp5dt!
DD Born May 8th, 2013!

Age: 29-30 during IVF, now 31
How long TTC: 2.5 years
Diagnosis or any known issues: lean PCOS
Treatments you tried before IVF: clomid, femara, injects, IUI
How many IVF did you do before success: 2nd fresh was success (1st fresh was chemical, FET was BFN)
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: no
Protocol (meds taken): long lupron (zpac, lupron, menopur, follistim, dex/medrol, ovidrel, pio)
How many follicles at ER: 40 follicles trigger day, e2 6886 (8544 next day)
How many eggs retrieved: 28, all mature
How many eggs fertilized: 24
How many days between ER and ET: 5
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 2 grade "B" blasts, have 2 frozen on day 6.
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: had early and late onset OHSS. Also had distinct pinching, a sore throat and canker sore that only lasted a couple of days which I thought was suspicious.
What day you got your BFP: 4dp5dt (9dpo)
HPT before blood test: about a thousand of them!
Number of first beta: 14dpo: 350, 16dpo: 676, 19dpo: 1946
Number of babies: 2 little boys!!!!
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process?: that while devastating, just because it doesn't work on the first (or even the second) try doesn't mean all hope should be lost. IVF is still a relatively new procedure and a lot of it is trial and error for the doctors. There are so many changes that can be made that can end up being all the difference, and your sticky BFP.

And for some advice to those starting this journey: learn as much as you can about your diagnosis and the IVF process itself, including meds and protocols, etc..be your own advocate (be the squeaky wheel!!!) and if something doesn't feel/seem right, speak up to your doctor/nurse and don't be afraid to ask questions. Befriend women who are going through the same thing to help you get through the process. And finally, while it can be hard, keep stress at bay during your cycle. Celebrate one day/appointment at a time and reaching EACH milestone...because all of them are an important step closer to your THB!!! Good luck to everyone!!!!!!
ME: (JJ) 33  DH: 37

Dx: lean PCOS/ DH: perfect
5 failed medicated cycles (3 w/IUIs)
