Thank you Anissa & Adventurer!!

I had egg retrieval today and I have to say I felt much better leaving there than I did when I went in. I was nervous because of all the stories I've read or seen on tv.

I'm also really lucky to have a great dr. :)

So we got 14 eggs, not the most but still a great number.
We're doing ICSI on them so I'm anxiously awaiting a call. She didn't say she'd call today but I sure hope she does!! For now, just laying and waiting lol

When I mentioned being nervous about waiting to see how many would make it to freeze after testing & everything, she said oh, the embryologist is so good at what they do here, they rarely lose any. Could that be true? I thought it would be up to the embryos not the person handling them.

Allonthetable, congratulations on getting 14 eggs! I am not sure about not losing any, it depends if they were all mature or not. Then they need to fertilise and make it through to day 5. My last round I had 10 eggs collected and only 5 fertilised because many were immature. We did not do icsi. But my age is a factor too. I hope you don't lose many. Either way it's all about quality.

Adventurer how are you going?

Hopingandwishing I can't really be of much help with discussing costs because I am in Australia where our health care system is very different to the US. But goodluck with getting a good deal. We are at the most expensive clinic in our state because it has the best success rate.

AFM, today I had my first follicle scan. There were plenty of follies on each side and my egg collection is scheduled for Monday! This time we have to do icsi, it is compulsory with cgh even though DH has no problems with his sperm.

Allonthetable: that's great! Congrats! And yes the lab has a lot to do with how things go actually. Of course the embies do as well but the quality of the lab is key. They will call you tmr for an update. They don't check for fertilization until day 1. Day 0 is egg collection.

annisa: that's great that you have so many follicles! That really increases the chances of a good egg and you only need one!!

AFM: AF finally reared her ugly head this am. But I'm completely confused. I met with RE yesterday and she figured I had ovulated just a week ago but now AF is here! I go in for day 2 bloods tmr to see if I can start my IVF cycle. I'm scared. :(

Eeek! Monday will be here before you know it Anissa! That's so exciting!! Hope you get lots of good healthy eggs! I vote for ICSI too.. Even though you may not need it, I think it def helps. Good Luck and don't forget to give us an update!

Adventurer.. Being confused is the worst! You just want answers as to what's going on exactly but Try not to stress as hard as it is. You will know what you need to know soon I'm sure. Sending positive vibes and love your way! Let us know what happens tomorrow. :praying:

Hopingandwishing.. My cycle has been pretty costly as I don't have insurance to cover anything.
RE- $7500
Anesthesia - $475
PGD- $4600
ICSI- $1650
Meds- $4200

I pretty much did everything under the sun that I could lol.. I'll also be getting more meds I believe to prepare for transfer. Pheewwwww!

AFM- All of our eggs were fertilized! :fertilization: We had to do ICSI last minute and I'm so glad we did. Everything happens for a reason so.. Wooohoooo!! We have 14 embys and I hope they all continue. We will see.. My RE said to give her a call monday morning if I haven't heard from here before then. I'm hoping that no news is good news if I don't hear from her all weekend. I guess I'll just sit here and obsess over them for now lol

Great news, I got 21 eggs collected! This far exceeded my expectations. I am realistic about how many are of good quality but this is way better than my last attempt. So, very happy. Now it's straight to the couch to recover and have DH wait on me.

Adventurer- 16 is great! That's very exciting! And sounds like you are on your way! Yay!!

Hoping- Good Luck with stims.. Retrieval will be here before you know it!

Annisa- nice job woman!! 21 eggs is amazing!! I hope they all fertilize and you come out with 21 little healthy embryos. :)

I have to say even though I'm going through my own thing, I really enjoy hearing about you all as well. It's just such an exciting time for all of us.

AFM- I've been missing my little ones since I woke up yesterday. Hard not hearing about them. I just wanna know what they're doing lol.. If I haven't gotten a call tomorrow morning when I wake up I'll call my dr. They only got off this long because there was nobody for me to call over the weekend. I will give an update as soon as I know something. Keeping my fingers crossed for 14 going strong.

Had to come share with you ladies because hubby is still asleep. I just found out all 14 of my embryos are still alive and kickin! I just balled my eyes out for 10 minutes lol so happy!! :)

I have
10 - 8 cell
3- 7 cell
1- 6 cell

Tomorrow will be genetic testing day and she said she's never seen any in her 4 years there not make it through that. So we should be good for that. Then last hurdle is the thaw for transfer next month.

I've been taking pregnitude for the last 3 months and I keep wondering if that has something to do with how well things have gone. Because I'm 38. I just didn't expect such positive results I guess. Anyway... I hope you all have a wonderful day and I can't wait to hear your updates!

Annisa: so happy for you! Your take home baby HAS to be in there!!!

all: omg that is so amazing!! You will get normal ones FOR SURE!

Hoping: I just started yesterday so were essentially stimming together!

AFM, I feel sort of out of place in this thread since I'm not doing PGS this time. I wish we were but since we no longer have confidence in my clinic's lab's ability to biopsy properly, I'm not keen on wasting another 2K.

Hi Adventurer, Please stay on this thread, it does not matter whether you are testing your embryos or not! I find your insights helpful as you have been there before. GL with stimming. I will have my fingers crossed for you.

Hopingandwishing GL stimming to you too.

All on the table, great results. Who said us old birds were past it! I agree with you it is nice to have you girls here who understand. My oldest friend is pregnant with her second ivf baby but she has experienced nowhere near the failures I have experienced. So I would not say ivf was easy for her but she got 2 healthy babies (second one is due August) out of three cycles and only ever had one embryo transfer fail. I've had 3 transfers fail and lost a natural pregnancy along the way. So our experiences are very different. Some times I struggle with thinking this will ever work.

AFM. Out of 21 eggs, 13 were mature and 12 fertilised. We are happy with this as we expected some to be immature. We are still well ahead of last time when we only had 10 eggs collected. Surely there has to be a baby in there right! I still have a fair bit of discomfort in my right ovary. I was told I was bordering on OHSS. So lucky for me I am not working now til after Easter.

Any updates ladies? AFM, just came back from my first follie check. Disappointing as I only had 3 follicles, two on right at 1.1, 0.9 and one on left at 0.8. I was hoping to have more this time having 16 antrals. Plus I'm on the max dose. Hopefully I'll have more by Friday.
