Hi ladies,

As you may guess from my username I am a veteran here :-) Had my first LO via IVF - he is now 10 months old and we are ready for another! I have a FET scheduled in 5 days. Good luck to everyone on their IVF journey!

Hello, everyone! I'm new to this board and IVF. I'm 35. DH is 37. Unexplained infertility. 6 failed IUIS.

I had my day 3 US on Friday. 13 follicles. Started on my stim medication on Friday and have my next appointment on Wednesday. Targeting a retrieval around April 15th.

I'm still getting the lingo of IVF down... I'm so excited to have the process started and people to chat with!!

Hello, ladies! It's so exciting to see so many on this board now!

Alexandra - Congrats on the good mock transfer. I agree with your doc, there's really no need for Valium unless you have a lot of cramping or anxiety. I didn't use it for either of my transfers because I liked the idea of being fully awake & aware of what was going on :) To me, benzos are way scarier than a little discomfort.

Jennie - Yay for AF! It does seem weird to say that. Kind of like it's weird to be taking birth control because we're TRYING to conceive...

MsTTC - Hey, I'm TTC #2, too. Isn't it weird to be doing all this again? Somehow, I had imagined (but not really expected) to be one of those women who tries and tries and tries for #1 and then has a surprise BFP the second time around. Ah, well. Seriously, though, GL on the FET!! Are you putting 1 or 2 embryos?

Re: supplements, I am taking a prenatal vitamin and a combined calcium/vitamin D. I haven't ever tried any of the others and felt there wasn't strong enough evidence to add more pills to the pile. On the other hand, I didn't find any strong evidence against, either. My RE did twist my arm to put me on low-dose levothyroxine, which I see as more of a supplement because my thyroid is normal (TSH was 3.1). He also asked me to go on low-dose aspirin for the stims & first trimester; looks like for both of these drugs there's a possible benefit in reducing early miscarriages but studies were pretty small and statistics were weak. I'll probably do it anyway because although I can read the papers, I never did a fellowship in RE and have only limited real-life experience with these things. Nonetheless, sometimes I feel the IVF process has a healthy dose of voodoo to it, alongside the actual science.

Big box of meds arrived yesterday. It's weirdly kind of exciting, even though there is a lot about the process I'm not eager for. I look forward to seeing the pile dwindle down, especially the pile of syringes. But for me it'll be a while; I still have 21 more days of BCP.

I had a funny thing happen this morning. I think I'm so well balanced and that TTC isn't occupying my entire brain, and then the Freudian slip: We were getting ready to go run some errands this morning, and I meant to say I needed 5 minutes to get DRESSED, but I accidentally said "to get PREGNANT." Because what other word would possibly go after "I need to get ..." right? Crazy brain!

Hello all
Sorry I've not been on lately, had a full weekend so not had chance to catch up with everything.
Well got my injection training this week, feels like forever until things start moving. I start my DR in 12 days, so will finally feel like things have started then.
I'm going to have a catch up with the thread, so looking forward to having some ladies on here for support, and hopefully I can be there for you all too.
Take care,
Claireu

Midwest, that's quite the Freudian slip! :) And I 100% agree on the voodoo.

Just watched all the injection vids... my doc gave me a website to go to for meds. I guess I'll start calling tomorrow to figure out how to get the meds in my hot little hands? I wonder how $$$ they'll turn out being....

Alexandra - worked on the 1st transfer and we transferred one embryo. Had three failed IUIs previously. I did a mini IVF a and have two good quality embryos left.

Midwest - I am transferring one embryo. Twins scare me
Do you have frozen embryos or are you doing another retrieval? How old is your LO?
I went out last night and had several glasses of wine knowing it's the last time (hopefully) I'll be able to drink for at least a year!

MsTTC, 3 more days?!? I'm not super familiar with FET..... what is the prep prior to the transfer for that? When can you conceivably start to POAS?

Thanks, JennieJ. You aren't far behind me!!

This process is so strange. In my job, I'm scheduled and in control. It is weird being completely controlled by biology right now. At least my Type A personality is feeling better by checking the days and appointments off of the calendar!

Alexandra - prep is pretty easy. The month before transfer RE does cycle monitoring and a biopsy/scratching of the uterus. Then this cycle I was monitored until ovulation. I started an estrogen patch, progesterone suppositories (they suck), prometrium, prednisone and asparin 5 days prior to transfer and you stay on all the lovely meds until 12 weeks pregnant.

I got a faint positive 4dp transfer and a visible one (without squinting) 5dp transfer last time. :-)

Hi Everyone! I hope its ok to join this board.:) I start my first IVF cycle in May so I might fall under the May/June/July (if it's FET) category! I am 26 (27 in Sept) and my DH is 28. I have PCOS and the doc thinks our only route is IVF with ICSI. We got married Aug 13 tried in November 13 - BFN tried December 2013 - got pregnant - had a chemical pregnancy/miscarriage in Jan 2014. February - mental break March - August or September 2014 did Chlomid + IUI's all BFN. Did one last Chlomid cycle this past month - I didn't even respond :-/ DH has slightly abnormal morphology and after the IUI sperm wash he would have 6,000,000 - 7,000,000 so not super low but not high either. We have been waiting since last November to start IVF because my schedule does not allow for the demanding appointments and I'll have my chance this May - August to give it my best shot.

My doc gave me my schedule. He is starting me on a low dosage since I have so many follicles and am very likely to have OHSS. 75 IU Follistim and 75 IU Menopur. I have a gut feeling I will have OHSS and have to do FET which is ok - just more waiting... taking it one day at a time. I have been on birth control for a few weeks and we are timing it so that I go off BC on May 5th/6th and do my first injection and start stimming May 9th. I have a countdown on my phone and time feels like its going so slow!

I know someone asked about supplements earlier.. I take CoQ10, DHEA, d3, folic acid omega 3/fish oil and am going to switch to a prenatal that has the folic acid in it (I was getting sick from the iron bleh) and I also take Metformin for the PCOS. Wishing all of you to have your dreams come true very very soon!!!
Diagnosed with PCOS in December 2012
Started trying November 2013
BFP in January 2014 ended with a chemical pregnancy
Chlomid + IUI March - August 2014 all BFN
Learned DH has slightly low morphology
Met with IVF doctor who recommends IVF w/ICSI
Stimming May 9th - May 19th
Triggering with Lupron May 20th (Found fluid may need to do FET and cancel ET)
Egg Retrevial May 22nd
Egg Transfer May 27th - transferred two beautiful embabies. Now PUPO.
