August 2015 IVF

Postby Jean789 » Thu Jul 23, 2015 5:29 pm

Is anyone starting an IVF cycle in August and want to be cycle buddies?

This will be my first IVF try after 6 failed IUIs. I am excited but so nervous. Our biggest issue is the financial side to it. We really hope it works for us.

I'm expected to start my period on August 4th so I would be starting meds the first week of August.

Jean789 - I can't remember too much about my first IVF, it's been about 2 years ago. But as far as tips, I would say try not to stress, ask a lot of questions if you're not sure of anything, and rest. What I would've done differently would be not to work myself to hard, I had a crazy schedule and I was working major overtime from 9am-12am not getting the rest I needed. I'm not sure if that had to do with anything as far as me getting a BFN or not I always ask myself that questions. Secondly, this around of my FET cycle before going in I did more research, and tried to find out the possible ways of why some got a BFN and that's where I discovered if you have a polyp that can stop your chances. Well going in this round, I asked my GYN before going to my IVF doctor to see if I had any polyps. Which I discovered I had several. Not sure if my former IVF doctor checked that before or not but I've seen where some said their doctor didn't check for it and they had it. Not sure if polyps were there back in 2013 when I did my round but they were defiantly here 2015 and just got removed 7/20 by my new FET DR. And I sometimes wonder if I hadn't said anything this round and when I did my SIS would my DR say anything about it being there. But I brought it to his attention during my consult. I wasn't waiting for him to discover it lol. I told him before he told me.

Hopefully that wasn't too much. But those are the things I would change. I believe the polyps was there back in 2013 but I can't 100% say for sure. There were a lot of things I didn't pay attention too and my doctor at the time wasn't the best in my opinion. He wasn't informative. But this new dr I have is a total opposite and I like him.

Alright Grace! We can be newbies together! :-). Since your doctor recommended FET what does that mean for your month? I know you said to stop birth control soon, but what does that mean as far as medications? And is there a benefit to a frozen transfer?

Ch'nara- thanks for the tip! I have an OBGYN appointment soon so i will bring that up. How were they able to tell you had polyps? Ultrasound?

Hi everyone,

Hope you don't mind me joining in.

I have had 2 failed IUIs also. Have changed fertility clinics and doctors so I can access donor sperm without a wait list and they recommended moving straight on to IVF given my history of endometriosis. I have started taking birth control pills again (a week ago) and am just waiting for all of my paperwork to transfer across so we can organise some dates for meds and egg removal etc. I should hopefully be meeting with the nurse in the next week and choosing a donor and then all systems go. Hoping for an August egg collection and embryo transfer.

Good luck to you all and please share any tips with me also. One thing I have been enjoying is acupuncture. It has really helped to keep me in a relaxed frame of mind and my acupuncturist is super knowledgeable in the fertility area.

Looking forward to supporting each other through the next month.

Jean- I have US on July 30th. I will be on Stim from -Aug 2-Aug 12 or Aug 13. Then they will schedule ER..hopefully it will be Aug 2nd week. I will know for sure only after stim.
RE says Frozen seems to be the new way they are doing here for the past 2 years and it has higher success rate because after stim with lot of harmones, the results could vary,
whereas on FET body is rested after ER then a month later do FET . They have higher success rate with FET.

Welcome veronica

We all will go through this together and get BFP's soon.

Hi ladies! I will be starting IVF #2 in early August. Just waiting for AF (currently CD 22).

We tried the first time in June, BFN. My RE is making a few changes this time around. My RE took a very conservative approach the first time because I am only 31 and had a high folicle count. Unfortunately I was not a great responder. We are planning a more aggressive approach this time and praying for a better result!

Cegomes1129 - sorry to hear that your first IVF didn't work out. I know the feeling. Good to see you'll be joining us this round :) . And I pray for better results as well.

Grace79 - I've heard that FET is less stress during the cycle. And also less meds. I hope it goes smooth for us all. I guess me and you will be doing a frozen cycle so far. Can't wait for xfer day, I hope it doesn't change. My fingers are crossed. For now my xfer date is 8/26 if all goes well. Also, that's great to hear that your office have a higher success rate with frozen. Super excited for you.

VeeJaye80 - sorry to hear that your 2 IUIs failed. I hope your paperwork gets xfered soon. And I haven't tried acupuncture yet. But I will look into it. I need to be relaxed as possible lol.

Jean789 - yes, vag ultrasound

Hi everyone!

I'm not sure if I should start a September post but I should be starting bc next Monday. Hopefully egg retrieval in September. My insurance should approve the cycle by the end of the week but even if they don't I told the nurses that I would pay for everything. Of course that means maxing out all credit and savings but hey - it's all worth it in the end right!?! But the nurse is hopeful that insurance will authorize the cycle.

I guess I'll be on the Lupron protocol. I have both tubes clamped after ruptured appendix caused bilateral hydrsalphines.

Anyway nice to meet you ladies!

Hello ladies,

I will also be joining you in August for my first IVF. My husband and I have gone through 3 failed IUI's since May 2015 and my doctor suggested IVF to be our best approach. I have unexplained fertility at age 35 and my husband 31 has great sperm. So no firm answers to why it hasn't happened yet. We've been trying for over a year and half and it has been emotional thus far.

I am both excited and nervous and a bit overwhelmed for IVF and all the upcoming meds, procedures etc. The unknown seems scary...but well worth the end result! I find it feels better to have a support system and talk to others who've gone through this or are currently so that's why I'm here. I have my baseline US on 8/4, been on BC for a few weeks now and will be doing Lupron protocol. Meds begin on 8/13 and hopefully retrieval last week of August.

I look forward to going through this journey with all of you, thanks for hearing my story and good luck and God Bless to you all! xo
