Aug stims, September retrieval!

Postby faithkeepsmegoing » Mon Aug 17, 2015 10:04 am

Hello ladies,

I wanted to start a new thread for late Aug stims with Sept retrievals. Is anyone starting up soon? I start Lupron on Thursday 08/20 and start stims on Saturday Aug 29th if all goes well.

I could use some support and would love to hear from anyone else that's on the same schedule. This is my 1st IVF cycle so I'm stressing over the meds.

Hey faith!
I am also starting my first ivf cycle. I just started bc on Wednesday and taking it for a week, then going in for blood work on wednesday the 26th. I am assuming they will start me on injections that day or day after. I also have been trying to conceive for 15 months. We have been diagnosed with unexplained fertility. We also had three failed iuis in june july and august of this year. My ER should be on or near sept 11th. Did they give you an estimate when yours will be.?

Thanks for starting this thread :)

Hi ladies! I am not doing a fresh cycle so won't have ER in Sept but will have ET in Sept. This process can be tough in some ways so I've always appreciated this thread. My ET will be 09/02 (pending appts). I started Lupron 07/28 and have been taking other meds. I will start Progesterone intra muscular shots next week I believe.

Faith - Thank you for starting a thread!
SdHimmer - Congratulations on starting your first cycle! You're TWW will be not long after mine. I should find out on or about 9/11 if it was successful.
If it is, it makes a wonderful birthday gift as mine is 9/17! Fingers crossed this is 36 for me.

I hope this finds you both well and I look forward to cycling with you both!

Hi IVF,
I am taking an ivf class that the RE office gives tomorrow. I think i will start the injections on wednesday or Thursday after my blood work. I'm nervous about all the medications and the side effects. How are you guys feeling after taking the injections?

@sdhimmer Congrats on starting your 1st IVF cycle. Wow, seems like our stories are pretty similar. That’s awesome that you get to start so quickly, I had to be on BC for 21 days overlapping lupron for the last week, I guess it’s called the long Lupron protocol. I’m new to all of this so, I’m trying to read up as much as possible. Seems like our retrieval may end up being just a few days apart. It’ll be nice to have someone to stress with for the next few weeks on stims and the tww. How have you been doing with the Lupron? It’s pretty easy so far but that’s only 1 injection, uggggg. What is your protocol? I’m gonna start Follistim 225, Menapur 75 and decrease Lupron to 5 units starting Saturday the 29th.

@ivftoo Congrats on your upcoming FET. Lots of babydust your way. Feel free to stress with us and tell us how its going…

AFM, tomorrow is supposed to be my last day of BC pills and it seems like I’m already getting my period today so, I’m right on track. I go in for my baseline Ultrasound this Friday the 28th. I cant wait to get this started.

Hi everyone. I'm part of a few threads on the site but like IVFtoo, I'm doing an ET in Sept. You can read my signature line for details on my history, but bottom line is that I've been riding this rollercoaster for the better part of a decade. I was quite taken back with all the meds on my 1st cycle, so i definitely understand the tripadation. Biggest side effects I experienced with all my cycles are headaches and mood swings all of which is attributed to stimulating of our hormones. Also had some injection site bruising, but it was minor.

I started estradiol shots on Friday, did 2nd shot yesterday, protocol is every 3rd day, then I'll do progesterone oil starting on the 3rd. FET is scheduled for 8th. We did genetic testing due to my, eh, "advanced maternal age," results came back 2 normal 2 inconclusive. This will be our 4th ET try, (1st FET, rest were fresh IVFs) so we are hoping for the best.

Good luck ladies, again, if you have specific questions, feel free to ask. I'm not an expert but I have been through years of Fertility cycles including a successful one on 2009 which have is my beautiful daughter, Bronwynne, in 2010.

Cheers!

Hi everyone!

This is my first IVF. You can see from my signature where I'm at. I'm on Lupron 10 iu. Have been since the 17th. Nothing really for side effects. DH gives me the injections and after a learning curve it has been a piece of cake. I started Lupron on the 15th day of birth control and it overlapped for a week. Was on bcfor 21 days.

Tomorrow morning is my supression check with bloodwork and ultrasound. Hoping to start stims that evening. Gonal F redi-ject pen at 250 iu. I believe my trigger is Novarel.

Hoping to have more dates after appointment tomorrow. I'm guessing ET will be around 9/6 but obviously that depends on a lot. Sunday was my last day bc and I felt crampy yesterday and a little today but no AF... not even spotting....

Good to meet all of you. :)

@hernan2 Sending you lots of babydust on your FET. I’ve heard that FET’s tend to do better than fresh cycles cause the body isn’t dealing with so many meds, etc. I’m hoping it works for you. Glad to hear you have one IVF baby already, I’m praying my 1st ivf is all it takes but I’m aware how this journey works so, just trying to remain positive. I’m definitely freaking out about taking all the meds. I’m only on Lupron right now so, adding another two is definitely scary but exciting at the same time lol. Do you have insurance coverage for ivf? I do, which definitely makes things so much easier, I know there’s a lot of women out there that don’t, I cant imagine what they go through. Just thinking about the emotional aspect is enough and then adding financial issues, ugggg that would be nuts.

Hi ladies!

First IVF for me too!
Had my Day 3 bloodwork (waiting on those results), and antral follicle count (9 right, 5 left= 14) yesterday and am starting my BCP tonight.
Feels like the calm before the storm... though I've already been SUPER emotional lately, so I'm scared for my sweet DH's well-being, haha :)

Glad we have each other for support! Here's hoping this is a lucky thread with lots of sticky BFPs heading this way!

@faith. I had ins for the IUIs & 1st IVF, but not for any of the follow on treatments. 2013 IVF was completely out of pocket, $13K...drained our savings which is why it took 2 yrs to start again. This time, still out of pocket but my DH and I have different jobs that pay much better and we went back to our original fertility center and they have a shared risk program. We paid a flat fee ($20K) and we pay for meds, they offer upto 6 fresh cycles and then 100% reimbursement of we don't deliver a child. We've had 2 fresh cycles and now doing a FET on that contract. So it offers some piece of mind but yes, the finance part is stressful on top of all ready stressful event. Again, other than a miscarriage, which thankfully I have have not and hope to not ever experience, I've experienced quiet a bit over the years.

@pupmom – glad you joined in. Cant wait to hear how ur baseline goes. Good luck tomorrow.

Momurph – welcome… How long will you be on BC pills? What’s an Antral Follicle count? Taking the BC pills and Lupron is definitely just the beginning, It starts turning real when your poking urself 3 times a day, atleast that’s what I hear lol. I start stims Saturday, fingers crossed everything looks good on my ultrasound.

@hernan2 Oh wow, it’s definitely an invest that’s totally worth it! That is amazing that your clinic offers you something like that. I unfortunately have gone through a miscarriage but it was my only bfp in 13 months. I took awhile but I finally found the bright side my RE was talking about “YOU GOT PREGNANT” that’s what he kept telling me, it’s possible so, lets skip anymore IUI’s and go straight to ivf and well, here I am. Noone and I mean no one can relate to what we’re going through, love that there’s forums like these to talk to woman that know exactly how frustrating this all is.

faith-- Thanks! I'll be on bcp until 9/9, so 16 days. The antral follicle count measures resting/immature follicles as an indicator of ovarian reserve and, in this case, ivf potential for any given cycle as the numbers vary month to month.
I think you're right about the shots. It's all fun until somebody gets poked with a needle, er... something like that! FX for your u/s Friday!

Still no sign of AF.

Went in for ultrasound and bloodwork this morning. The tech found an ovarian cycst. Now it's a matter of finding out if this delays or even cancels the cycle. Not going to know until the afternoon.

Feeling so drained and sad.

@puppymom Oh nooooooo, I'm so sorry but don't lose hope just yet sometimes if it's small enough they'll still move forward. Stay positive, I know its hard but you need to know that you are doing everything possible to become a mommy. You've made all the appts, taken all the tests, you've been poked and prodded so now ur body just needs to get on board. You have no control over that but everything else YOU'VE DONE so, no one can say you haven't done everything in ur power! We're here for you....

@Momurph hmmm, ive never taken that test atleast I don't think so. Maybe I should ask about it. I know my AMH levels in December were lower than they'd like for someone at 33 so I need to get this ivf going and hopefully have some frosties for the future. Can I ask why you're doing PGD testing? Was it because of the MC?

puppymom: Ugh! I really hope the cyst doesn't hold things up for you. Did you hear anything back from the doc yet re: how to proceed? Sorry you're having to deal with this on top of everything else.

faith: Yup, we're opting for the PGD mostly because of the MC, but I think we'd have been interested in it regardless. Even though we know that the MC was essentially a chromosomal fluke, we decided to do it. Because it's taken us so long to get a bfp in the first place and now to ivf, I kind of felt like...well, why not? Add to that that our insurance coverage expanded and increased so we're able to get most of the IVF itself covered, which made it easier to swallow the cost of the just PGD out of pocket.

AFM: day 2 on bcp and woke up to icky nausea early this morning. Haven't been on bcp for years and now I remember how "off" I felt on it. Hopefully it'll level off a bit, because I'm sure the side effects only magnify when it's time for the real drugs! *sigh* please pass the ginger ale & saltines
