October/November Fresh and FET

Postby Puppy Mom 85 » Tue Sep 22, 2015 1:50 pm

I'm starting this group for those like me with recent fail. My projected transfer is Nov 9th.

Do you think you'll do anything different for the next cycle?

I did acupuncture pre and post transfer on the day of, pineapple core, and hpts. I'm definitely considering doing NONE of that for FET.

Hello,
Can I join you? I haven't been on these boards in years, and even forgot my old login information. I am doing a FET towards the end or last week of October. I start Lupron tomorrow. I have spent a total of 8 yrs TTC. My DD is turning 2 next week. It took 6 yrs of trying, and treatments to get her. As you can see in my signature. I did 12 IUI's, 2 fresh IVF's, and 5 FETs. Doing my 6th FET (or 1st FET) for #2. I can say with my successful FET (which resulted in twins until week 8 when I lost an angel) I did all kinds of things. I did pineapple core for 5 days after transfer, ate 3 Brazil nuts a day for 5 days after. I drank red raspberry leaf tea up until transfer. I did castor oil hot packs every other day from 1 day after AF until day before transfer. My clinic only does Day 2 transfers. I plan on doing all those things again. I have a really difficult time getting my uterine lining above 8mm, and I am fearing that will be my issue again! Out of 13 embryos transferred I only have one living child. I know how painful this journey can be, but I also know to never give up!!!

Nice to meet you Natty!

Hopefully we have luck this cycle! It's interesting that you had 13 embryos as after my failed fresh, that's the amount I have frozen. At no point during the Fresh cycle, did anyone mention the thickness of my lining and even when the nurse gave me a review of the FET cycle, she only mentioned blood work!

The next time I talk to her I'll have to ask if they monitored the lining. I'd hate to think this last embryo never stood a chance because my lining was too thin!!

Hi ladies!

May I join you ladies as well? I've been reading posts on this website for the last 2 years but I never participated.
After trying for 2 years, we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility and decided to pursue IVF route.
I am on dual trigger protocol (Lupron and HCG) and currently on BCP right now. I am going in for pre-IVF workup on 9/29 and will be starting injections around 10/2.
I just received my meds yesterday... and I am super excited and nervous at the same time. I've read both good and horror stories about IVF, and it made me realize that there were so many factors that could affect the outcome. I guess that's what makes me nervous.

I'm glad I joined this forum and started sharing my experience with the ladies who are (and will be) going through the same thing as me.

Good luck to you all! :)

@puppymom: I'll be stocking this board to see how your FET goes. I hoping you'll have great luck this time around!

@natty: you may want to try acupuncture and have it focused on your uterus- made a HUGE difference in my progesterone and lining thickness, so much so that it was too thick during my fresh IVF#4, had to go with a FET.

Good luck to you ladies!

Hello ladies!
Puppy- 13 embryos is great! Most Dr's won't proceed if your lining isn't at least 8mm, so I am assuming yours was just fine. The actual FET that resulted in my DD my lining was actually 7.8, the Dr wanted to cancel, but I begged him. It does show it's possible though. Excited to follow your journey!

Joylove-so happy you decided to join. I was a follower for a long time. As I proceeded with my treatments I finally felt I had enough "experience" to share. I always hope that maybe I can help someone in some way even if it's just to support them. One thing I have learned is usually things don't go picture perfect on any cycle, but even one that seems to be not going well can, and does bring a beautiful baby. Always do the best you can to remain calm, and positive!!! FX for a great cycle for you!

Herman- I haven't tried acupuncture, so I guess I can't say I've tried everything. How often did you go? My transfer is about 5-6 wks away, is that enough time to help. I am desperate, and already nervous about my lining check, it NEVER goes well, and is always 1mm away from a cancelled cycle. Thank you so much for any help you have. That's great it worked so well for you!!

AFM-starting Lupron tomorrow, the 24th. Not looking forward to the headaches it brings me, but oh so worth it in the end! As I was saying, I am already so nervous about my lining check which is still about 3wks away. I usually have to take a truckload of estrogen, and add an extra 8-10 days worth. But hey, whatever get me there!!

@natty: I'd start searching for an acupuncturis now and do it at least 3-4 weeks prior,. I went 2x a week and did an implantation protocol about 3 hrs prior to my FET. Google acupunturist in your area that specializes in infertility. When your call, tell them your FET schedule so they can get you in. I will tell you, at least for me, it wasn't relaxing like a massage would be, but it does help with stress and it would make me very sleepy, so I'd often fall asleep during my treatments. Plus I appreciate the whole body attention that is eastern medicine instead of just treating the symptoms like western medicine does. Good luck!

Welcome Joy! Being part of a group can be so helpful so you know you're not alone. I was intimidated and excited by the box size when I first got my meds. But after I sorted through everything I realized it wasn't too bad.

I'm wondering what the box for the FET will look like since there's less to a frozen cycle. I am really, really hoping this frozen cycle takes as I don't know how much more BFNs I can take. But I know I won't give up so we'll see how things go.

Natty, good luck with building an awesome lining! Do you think you'll try acupuncture? How do you feel on the estrogen meds? I didn't have to take estrogen for the fresh but I'm doing it for the FET. Any symptoms?

Herman, thanks for the support. :D It's great to be reminded that this process does work!

A goal I'm setting for myself during the month wait before FET is to lose 10 pounds or at least 5. I was doing great with weight loss to get to a better BMI but then when I started the fresh cycle, everything stopped. I didn't gain weight which is good but I didn't lose any either. So hopefully if I go back to healthier eating, I'll be able to lose a few pounds and be in a better position for FET.

@natty: it looks like you've been through so much! Who knew becoming a mom would be such a long, hard journey... I have a coworker who swears by acupuncture. She's a firm believer that acupuncture was what helped her embryo to stick. I am not sure it was because it helped with thickening the uterine lining but who knows? :) I really hope FET works the first time for your baby #2!!!

@puppy: healthy eating is always good! I am trying to cut down on carbs and sugar. It's not so easy! I must have become carb addict! I need to cut down on caffeine too. Eating healthy sounds too good to be true for me at this point. :)

First time poster, here! This is my first IVF attempt. I have my retrieval scheduled on either October 7, 8, or 9 and then my transfer exactly 5 days after that. I start my injections in 3 days. I'm really hoping to be one of those "one and done" success stories, but I don't want to get my hopes up.

Welcome Savy! Hopefully you will have success with your first try. It does happen!

I would suggest to always have a back up plan on how to treat yourself if you do experience a fail. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst has been my approach for a while.

Good luck with the injections! They're not too bad although at the end you may feel very ready to stop being a pincushion.

The nurse told me that for my FET I'll be taking estrogen pills and I'll be back on the Crinone twice a day. Today she is submitting the request to the insurance department for review and they will create a flow sheet to send it to my insurance company. I'm hoping it gets submitted and approved asap because although I am so scared about more failure, I'm ready to start again!

@ puppyluv: happy you don't have to do IM injections...progesterone oil is no fun and it makes you sore at the injection sight. Been doing my own this week since I'm on a business trip and my quads feel like I've been doing a squat workout! When I'm at home my DH does them in upper bum, he's become quite the pro.

Thanks @ puppy mom! My husband and I qualified for the two try shared risk plan. I'm not really sure if that indicates good odds for us or not. I'm 29 and he's 26. I have PCOS and endometriosis. I actually had a laproscopy done a few months ago to get rid of the endo, so hopefully it's all gone. My husband had to have surgery in January for low motility and they say everything with him is good now. I've been struggling lately. My younger brother got married on August 1 and his wife got pregnant on their wedding night. I'm just ready for my turn as I'm sure everyone else on here is, too!

@savy: I know the feeling of "what not me?" My coworker got pregnant during her honeymoon and I remember thinking "why is she so darn fertile but not me???" I was extremely annoyed! I felt bad for feeling that way but I couldn't help it!

I think this might be me...

I have frozen embryos that we are doing genetic testing on prior to implantation. Right now, we are waiting for the genetics company (Genesis) to make a custom probe to test for my BRCA mutation. That takes 2-4 weeks. Then they test the embryos, which I think is another few weeks. Then I start BCPs and all of that drama. Not up on the lingo just yet, but I know I do pills, then add in some suppressant injections. I have a timeline, but not specific dates yet.

We are thinking a late November or December transfer. I host a bunch of family for Thanksgiving, so I am not sure if I hope we transfer before or after that. I guess after will be less chaotic, but I am ready to get this show on the road!!!
I am 38/husband is 39. No fertility issues whatsoever (that we know of)

8 frozen embryos from 5/13, frozen the day before I started chemo for BRCA1 breast cancer
Embryos thawed 10/27/15---2 survived to blastocyst: Graded 6AA and 5AA
One embryo with chromosome issues; one female embryo with BRCA mutation

One more attempt to get eggs: aggressive retrieval planned with Estrace, Clomid, Follistim, Menopur, Ganirelix/Cetrotide, then HCG trigger.
