Has anyone heard of mini IVF?

Postby stefknow » Fri Nov 06, 2015 1:07 pm

Hi ladies, has anyone hear of mini IVF? I read an article talking about this treatment and wondering if anyone has experience of it.

Here's the doctor's explanation:
"In mini-ivf, we don’t stimulate the follicles to the same extent using injectable. We run a course of carefully monitored oral medication which tends to be easier on the body and allows us to customize the dose more effectively. There may still be injections, but significantly less."

This is the chart of mini IVF

And this is the normal IVF

I don't know much about it, but have heard of it. My mom's neighbor did mini. I hear it is significantly cheaper cost wise, too.

I've done 3 cycles of mini Ivf. I have one child. The first cycle was with clomid and injectibles and it didn't work but I had a fairly good response with egg stimulation. For my second one, I switched clinics and the protocol was different, all injectibles but lower doses than regular IVF. My dd is from that cycle. The third cycle was also injectibles but I miscarried. it depends on your reason for infertility, but mini ivf might be a good option. In my case, I have one blocked tube and my DH has very low sperm count. Our biggest concern was financial which is why we went the mini route.
